Poor Mr. Rutherford. It must have been so sad to fight to bring your country together and then have to fight again as it is torn apart.
It also must have been difficult, fighting in a war many decades after your own death. I can only imagine. |

Here are some (true) fun facts about one of our lesser-known presidents, Grover Cleveland.
Cleveland was the only Democrat to be president between 1860 and 1912. He was a reform minded president who tried to break up the spoils systems, clean up corruption in the government and veto bills for congressional pork. Most days, he worked well into the night, because he wanted the American people to get their money's worth from the salary they were paying him. All these things should make Cleveland a well-respected president. But the thing I most admire about the 22nd and 24th president of the United States is that he didn't marry until he was 49 -- and then he married the a 21 year old hottie who was the daughter of his best friend. Hats off to you, Grover Cleveland! |
