Apparently Fluff. And I have decided I want to be a cardiothoracic nurse at Johns Hopkins
They haven't even mentioned the most famous doctor to work out of JH....
Fluff, what dept do you work in? And oopsie on the squirting artery. |

I took an early retirement actually. I've done it all though. Specialized in OB-GYN. Then went on to work for a General Surgeon. Then on to
administration in a spinal cord rehab center. All sorts of things in between.
I knew that brain tumor guy was a total alkie. Especially after he made that napkin rose. All guys who hang out in bars a lot make those. Then at then end they showed him in his homie bar. Yep, I knew it alright. I thought Dr. Bethea's drinking buddies were hot! Looks like he's about to be single again Under. Better get yo ass on over to JH fast. eta: Pretty good first eppie. |

Hell, I'll be right aboard the Dr. Bethea train
I guess I can understand it's tough, with him in his residency, and never being home. The last guy I dated was a Detroit PD lieutenant and his 8 hour shifts ended up being 12 because of shootings. |

This reminded me of HOUSTON MEDICAL (which I liked), a documentary that ABC did a few years ago.

I liked that too Papa. They also did one about 7 years ago called Hopkins 24/7. ABC has a great rep with hospitals just because they pretty much turn them
loose with their cams. And the way they humanize doctors makes the documentary good.

I like the female urologist. And the immigrant neurosurgeon did a good job preaching that if you work hard and try you can do anything.
But OWIEEE - I didn't realize inflating a collapsed lung was that painful. |
|||
Fluffynurse |

Well, yeah it is painful. They basically have to ram a chest tube right into the lung. No amount of "numbing medicine" can help with that.
I was cracking up when the hispanic brain surgeon was telling the post-op tumor man to "squeeze my hand" but it was so unintelligible no wonder the poor patient didn't respond. Then when he said "wiggle your toes" the dude does it right away. That was only because he could understand that. |

I liked the first episode...as long as they don't "Hollywood-ize" it too much, I think it will be good.
And Hopkins is going on the list of possibilities for work |

ABC isn't re-inventing the wheel here..this type of documentary even w/ the storytelling and humanizing of Dr.s has been done before and done a lot but
for what it was, I enjoyed it. I'll admit some of the medical stuff was gross like the reinflating of the lung (it doesn't look that painful/gross on
ER ;) but overall it was interesting..

Anyone watch tonight's show???? It was good - glad for the lady who got new lungs and the now big preggo female urogist!
And my hot doctor is looking for hot nurses |

Yeah, hot Dr. Bethea seems like he's a partier & likes to stay away from home where the wife & kiddies are. I feel sorry for them. He's too
blase about the divorce & how hard it's going to be on those 3 little girls.
And how cool was it to see the lung lady get her new lungs inflated? I was so happy for her & her family. Loved the tall black doc getting a chance to put in a chest tube. I thought he was going to start doing back flips. That was cute. Then there was the young guy getting the vasectomy. He pierced his own peen! That's a wild one right there! Heehee the nurse got to tape his peen up to his stomach. He looked pretty hung. All in all, a great show. I'm ready for more now. |

Over how long were this group of Doctors followed for this show? I don't recall the Urologist being pregnant in the 1st ep and last night she looked ready
to pop and at the end they did that one year later update on the woman who received the transplant.
I must say..don't watch this show and eat food or just have eaten food b/c if you are at all squeamish about blood and organs, etc.. it's not a good idea. I thought I was going to throw up when they did that kid's chest tube and you could see his fileted skin. *gags* The transplant stuff wasn't as bad probably b/c it was detached looking from the body where as w/ the kid, it was clear it was a person if that makes sense -don't know how to explain it. |

I'm not sure but I thought I read somewhere that they were at the hospital 24/7 for about 4 months filming. Then they went back for any follow-ups.

Yeah, I've been watching this, since it focuses on the giant hospital complex located within a couple miles of my house.
Unfortunately I missed the name of the young black doctor. Anybody recall? If so, t.ia. (My loud-ass window AC requires me to use closed-captioning in
the evening, and the captions covered his name.)

I missed his name - my tape started about a minute too late. Is he a brand new resident?
I think they're really editing Dr. Bethea and his divorce really weird. He's probably out with his buddies blowing off steam, and his buddies are egging him on about finding a hot nurse, and alcohol certainly didn't help. But the guy's got a stressful job and with a crumbling marriage, can't say I blame them. But who knows what the true story is. Loved them showing the lungs being implanted - that was so neat. I can deal with blood and trauma and such - I hate puke. |

Those lungs were a thing of beauty. Wonderfully healthy.
I missed the chest tuby doc's name too. Hopefully he'll be featured more since se got to see him moving in to the new apartment with the girlfriend or wife. And I don't mind shit or vomit. It's mucus I hate. I don't like to suction trachs at all. Or get sputum specimins. *shiver shiver* |

Ugh, me no good around the Code Browns, Fluffy, but I guess I'll get used to it.
Why don't you like the sputum specimens, Fluffy? Eh, suctioning trachs....blech... Guess I better get used to all this though, right? |
