That worked out well. Santana vs Durbin (edge to Johan obviously but I think Durbin will pitch well tomorrow) Maine vs Moyer (this is a wash. Maine has owned the Phillies while the Mets have made Moyer look like Sandy Koufax) Perez vs Kendrick (slight edge to Ollie I guess. Kendrick is having a better year but Perez hasn't allowed a run in two starts vs Philly) Pedro vs Eaton (weird as it sounds, the edge goes to Eaton since he's undefeated against the Mets. Not to mention Pedro has been dreadful in his last 3 starts) The forecast for Philly over the weekend doesn't look too promising. Mother Nature is trying to save the Phillies from a monstrous pummeling. Consider yourselves lucky. ssts

But I think the long ball will play a big part in it and Philly has the theoretical edge there. Pedro should retire while he still has 2 arms. Sad times since he was so great for a while, but thats over. He will be back on the DL this season, book it. That said, GO Mets and Yankees!!

Oh yeah AMEN XXXX Sillies had the worst SP ERA in the NL - very high 4s but everytime they faced a team wearing the word "Mets" on the uniforms, the ERA dropped magically to below the 2.5s ERA. For those who always wished they could see them, this weekend will be a special joy as the Sillies roll out Walter Johnson, Lefty Grove, Bob Feller and Robin Roberts.

The dislike between the teams has been well documented, but has only played out in the media thus far. One misplaced fastball could easily change that. The Phillies are currently in first place and the Mets should be closer than they are. Both have been in the playoffs recently, and no one in either clubhouse is too fond of Mets closer Billy Wagner. Add it up, and you get a powder keg ready to explode. I guess nobody likes Billy Wagner

IIRC he was called up to face the Mets last year in June or July and got absolutely raped. He gave up seven hits, including three homers, and five runs in four innings of an 8-3 loss to the Mets in Philadelphia on June 30, 2007. "I think he knows what it's like now," Manuel said. It started with myself and StarRider having our first smackdown fest and the rest is history. Mets better win that first game w/ Santana on the mound. Otherwise it's going to be a long weekend. I won't be here tomorrow since I'm heading to Atlantic City. No matter what happens in this series, I'll check in sometime Saturday or Sunday. Btw- it would be nice if the Braves show the fuck up tonight and beat the Phillies for a change.
