Don't the producers submit ONE episode of the series and the voters judge on that episode and that one alone? If so the series of backstabbing in Micronesia would have very little influence on the voters. For example China's episode #4 would have much better luck in winning an emmy. The chinese family visit with the fish-catching birds would interest voters. Or the episode with the visit to the Great Wall. China, not the season but the experience and the history, will give Survivor the emmy I hope.

Posts: 6298 (06/20/08 9:37 AM) Registered User Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	The Emmys awarding Micronesia would be a joke since the only reason the show was remotely memorable was because of total stupidity, poorly thought out casting (Fairplay, Kathy) and badly planned challenges. It'd be like giving an emmy to Budd Dwyer. TAR wins because its x100 more well-produced, not because its x100 more entertaining (though it usually is) - hence them submitting the fairly dull Hong Kong episode because of all the stunts. If TAR deserved to lose at any time, it would have been the TAR7-8-9-10 stretch of mediocrity, against PR1.

Plus TAR got reduced to one shortened seasson which CBS plugged into its schedule halfway through the fall. They should submit the Ozzy boot episode for Micronesia. It's got a cultural and educational reward (remember Erik visiting the natives) and a dramatic IC and TC.

Casting Fairplay and Kathy wasn't moronic.They truly thought they could handle it.I bet, if you are not a gloom and doom pessimist, that you feel you could climb Mt Everest or K2(if you haven't already).I can asure you that you are probably not prepared.I want to live an Indiana Jones lifestyle,but Im certainly not prepared to deal with Nazis,Soviets or evil cults,and I don't have a background in archeology

Very true. Which is why I laugh at the stuff written by some TV critics that reality programs like Survivor are "mindless entertainment" or a lowering of TV quality. Survivor is more interesting and intelligent than most of the dumb sit-coms of the past 30-40 years, where every problem the characters get in can be resolved in 30 minutes (minus commerical time) and nothing that happens in an episode can change the fundamental situation of the charcters.

You do make a valid point, and that's why AR wins all the time, their episodes are self-contained easily, and you can enjoy one without watching the rest.

They judge production and editing, camera and sound production, pace, educational and cultural content and other criteria that can be judge in one episode.

Both good episodes but hardly the top standalone picks for their respective seasons.

The Fans vs Faves theme peaks when they finally interact. There are good challneges with lots of Elizaownage, including the brutal RC that injured Jonathan and Ami. Amanda talks about the couples alliance and catches a shark. Best of all is the Chet vs Joel battle,

Big fat X right there. After two stellar seasons (China for purists and long-time fans, Micronesia for everyone else), it should definitely win the Emmy this year. TAR? Nah. It's 12th season was pretty good and I really enjoyed it, but it didn't match China or Micronesia.

I'm disgusted that the fans are the ones to debunk the rumors of "best season ever" when that's probably a really good thing to coin the season since it could revive the series... but i digress.
