25. Kelly Goldsmith (Survivor Africa)

In episode 1, Kelly was actually a huge bore. She was invisible. But in episode 2, she showed her sense of humour. I laughed when she said she would eat goat testicles. I felt bad for her when she lost the blood challenge, even though I was happier for Samburu. It wasn't until episode 5, that she really emerged as a character. Seeing her endlessly bitch about how horrible Samburu was, was hilarious. She had a snarky side that I loved. In episode 6, I was hoping she'd side with the Samburu youngins, but unfortunately didn't. She got Kim J's sign that Lindsey has votes, even though she mistook one of the hand signs for Brandon, when it really meant 4 votes. At the merge episode, Kelly was on fire. First, she bashed Lex and said she would love nothing more than to vote him out, because he was weird and was so obviously working it for votes. <3 Then she had several amazing confessionals, including the one about Frank needing to be on pills for his social anxiety. How bitchy. At the IC, she was out first, and I was such a dumb kid, when she said "I do this all the time", I actually believed her, thinking it was some weird yoga thing. She also provided another great confessional after the IC, paraphrased... "Lex can sit there all day and tell Clarence something else when it would be inconvenient to tell him the truth, but then slip in the real truth at the last possible second, and that makes you an ethical person. *sarcastically* Okay." <333 Next episode, what could have been the best coup in Survivor history was blown, but not before getting my hopes up. Kelly continued to bash Lex's paranoia which was great. After that, she finally jumped ship (which took her so long... that's the one thing that bothered me about her... she's a smart girl, and she should have known that she was the first out on Boran, so why not try and team up with Samburu to get a Kelly/Brandon/Kim majority?), but stupid Brandon screwed it up. They could have easily been the final 3. :/ She provided great entertainment at the finale... first with her pre-final TC confessional.. "I don't really care for either person sitting up there. I'm the sorest loser out there, and I'll be the first person to admit it. But I want to see fireworks tonight, I'd love to see them squirm. *inaudible sound of excitement* I wanna go now! *falls back*". Classic. Then at final TC, her whole speech was great, and then again with her voting speech. <3 Kelly. She was insightful and smart and fun at the reunion. Too bad she missed out on All Stars.


























24. Tanya Vance (Survivor Thailand)

Probably mind boggling to have Tanya so high, but she was a huge sweetheart, and she was fun to. You could tell that just from her pre-show stuff. First of all, she's a social worker, which is always nice, because usually they are very caring people. Second, if you watch her audition tape... what a hilarious girl! She had one of my fave audition tapes ever. She seemed like she'd be a really fun girl. But also, watching her pre-show video, she seemed like such a sweetheart. She really wanted to do the show I think. And she told a story about how the one kid at her school was always picked on and had no friends, yet she stepped up to the plate and befriended him/her, and that was really a big thing to do for her. She's probably one of the most genuinely nice people to every play survivor, right up there with Gretchen, Teresa, Leslie etc. Watching her on the show, I felt bad for her in the first episode. Not only was she sick, but she was on the team where she was 27, yet the youngest by several years at least. She was in a tribe where I don't think she could mesh as well. But I think she said that after joining CG (post-show), she wouldn't have traded it, she loved them. But her sickness led to her demise, which is such a shame... she was so likable that I'm convinced she would have made it very far. But I know the sad thing is her father died during filming, so I'm sure she would have had to leave Thailand during the game, if she had made it, but that's so sad, and I felt horrible for her. But hearing her take on it during the reunion was sad, but also touching that her sister and her father reconciled because she went on survivor. <333 Tanya, and if there's ever a second chance, she needs to be on.




































23. Gretchen Cordy (Survivor Borneo)

Gretchen was such a sweet lady. She was very hard working, funny, classy, and everyone loved her. I read on here just last week that production cried when she was voted out. America loved her as well. My favourite line of episode one, "I know human beings." Stupid BB overworking himself. It was nice to see Gretchen take the reins and try to at least lighten his work load. Then when Ramona got sick, she had nothing but nice things to say about her in her confessional interviews. I don't think she had a bad thing to say about anyone. Even when she was pissed, like after the rainstorm in episode 4, she handled it in a mature, nice way. They should have listened to her from the start, she knew what she was doing, she had so much experience. After the merge, you could tell she wanted something new, so it was good to see her get what she wanted, but in a way, she was the demise of Pagong. They all looked up to her, and she didn't want anything to do with alliances, so they didn't either. Not a smart way to play the game, but interesting nonetheless... season 1 was great. She got voted out for being a threat, and she was shocked, and so was America. I wasn't. Okay, that's only because I only saw the episode on it's second airing. But to see her go was really sad... she was totally blindsided, and so was the rest of Pagong. And you could tell they were devastated. It was sad to see her go. But she was nothing but a class act and had many light moments. If there is a second chance, I would vote for Gretchen to be on in a heartbeat.































22. Jaime Dugan (Survivor China)

Probably another shocker, for her being so high, but Jaime was a great addition to the China cast. She gets extra points for being a young cute blond that DOESN'T live in LA and isn't part of the mactor scene. <3 I had read pre-show that Jaime was really stupid (don't know how that rumour got started), so I was really not looking forward to seeing her on the show. In episode 1, she had a cute moment with the bra thing, but she was a complete non-entity, and I thought "great, she's going to suck". But boy was I wrong. In episode 2, she really came out as a good character. She got kidnapped to Fei Long, and showed great intelligence. The strategy to give the clue to the idol to someone who was weak was simple, yet she seemed to be the first person in 3 seasons to understand that concept, which gives her major props. Even though she didn't go through with the plan and give it to Courtney, she did one better... found someone she had a strong connection with, and gave it to them. Episode 3, she proved the power she had by getting her wish on who to kidnap, and got the clue. In episode 5, I loved PG and Jaime when they threw the challenge. It was absolutely hilarious watching them do it so ... obviously. But back at camp, watching them crack up was side splitting. <3 <3 <3 She was a ruthless gamer, she had Zhan Hu by the balls. First, she made an alliance with 5 of her tribe members, all with different deals, and not only did they not compare notes, but they trusted her completely. And she tried to make a deal with Chicken. I didn't understand what Probst meant when he said Jaime played a huge part in Zhan Hu, but after knowing all the deals she made and all the power she had... she did have the most important role on ZH. She was one of the best players of the season, IMO, because she knew the game just as well as Todd did... except know one knew, everyone trusted her whereas no one really trusted Todd. Unfortunately, with the HII's, it kind of blocked any plan ZH had at succeeding. Her only mistake, IMO, was trying to vote off J-R instead of trying to work WITH J-R. But she was great, and had a great confessional: "Everyone thinks I'm a little Jessica Simpson running around, ... but I'm not as dumb as I look and I think they're figuring it out" The way she delivered it was great, especially since the show used the quote out of context to make her look dumb.

21. Kathy Vavrick O'Brien (Survivor Marquesas)

Shocking??!?!?! But I loved Kathy. I thought she was overbearing and abrasive in episodes 1 and 2, BUT I still loved her because I felt so badly for her. The scene where she catches all the food and demands that the tribe include her more as so heart-wrenching because you could see how hurt she was. She tried to help the tribe with all she had and she was shunned in a way. But she learned from it. She realized her mistakes, and Kathy has to be one of the most resilient players ever because she took small things and grew from them so fast and so much. Soon everyone loved her, and when she swapped tribes, she became part of one of the most tight knit tribes ever. A lot of team spirit. She had never seen the show before, and probably thought it was about who could survive the best. But she quickly learned the name of the game was politicking and she tried to get Gina to vote with her, but unfortunately Gina thought that it would get her into trouble, but what could have been. Post-merge, she wasn't reluctant to see the Rotu 4 and turn on them, but again, Paschal/Neleh weren't on her level of game, so they didn't understand. I loved the dynamic between Rob and Kathy at the summit, and the scene with Rob/Zoe/Kathy was amazing. "They're all lying to me! Zoe's lying to me! I'm being used as a pawn". Then I loved the interaction between her and Sean, trying to pull a coup. Kathy played marvelously after that, and she went from being the one everyone hated, the first voted out, to the person those very same people wanted to see win. It sucks so much that she lost it right at the end by a little bit, because she would have been one of the best winners ever. She I think had the best story arc of any survivor ever. The reason she doesn't place higher (thought 21 is amazing) is because I liked other people more and ASS again kind of tainted the ideal perception I had of Kathy.
