And yet tone is frequently the deciding factor by which characters with otherwise decent ratings can be eliminated. What can be done?
If Tone is the deciding factor, as implied, then it means there aren't enough of the rest of us calling a halt to it. Simple as that. But Tone did not prevent Parvati being a frontrunner, nor Earl (who would next to no SPV to equate in), nor Yul, etc. The idea that Tone "frequently" has elimated characters is bunk. What winner has it affected? Todd not being picked by the merge had nothing to do with Tone. It was the post merge edit that too many griped about Todd. By the merge, Tone was not an issue. He was "too visible" and "too strategic", etc. Nothing regarding tone.
A winner will have moments that make him/her be forced to look capable and a few forced to be incapable. That's all that counts with Tone. A winner cannot be neutral the entire show. A winner has to have some ying and yang to face the jury. Nothing further.
Sorry, the system for Tone isn't some great weakness. It is fine. It is cause for debates that some would rather not read. Skip those debates. But show me how, by the merge, when a winner is to be picked, that Tone has eliminated the winner. You'll find it hasn't. And after the merge, it's past Edgic anyway and is meant to toy with you.
