That's a bad move. The Rays were hanging on for dear life and Tito has to know that he'd be giving them a free out if something went wrong.
And it did. |

delgado is slightly better shit.

i dont even know what those stats are, all i know is every time im watching a mets game and a runners in scoring position and delgados up, he strikes out or
gets out meekly, while howard has a .333 avg with runners in scoring position or something like that. if he was .275 or below the phillies would probably under
.500.

MLB Winners Roundup for Wednesday, July 2 2008
AL: Minnesota, Los Angeles, Baltimore, New York, Tampa, Chicago(WOW!), Seattle NL: Florida, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, St Louis, Colorado, Milwaukee, Chicago 11 games are slated for today. I say WOW! for the White Sox win because they were losing when I went to bed and I was sure they would lose the game. 2nd straight win in extra innings and 7th in a row overall - their 3rd winning streak of 7 or more games so far this season. Nice. |

Looks like, after myriad aborted attempts to return, that Rafael Furcal is done for the season. He'll undergo surgery today to remove a bulging disc from
his back and will be out for at least 8 weeks or more.

in the pan, but after seeing them sweep the Sox, I'm starting to come around. I wonder if they'll be able to hang around after the trading deadline
when the Sox and Yanks bolster their rosters though, since with Percival on the DL, they're bound for trouble.

Wasn't it Delgado who went off about "The Mets are the team to beat" in the offseason? Nice to see he's really backing up that statement with
some fantastic play.

Actually it was Beltran. The same guy who is a clean up hitter and takes fastballs down the heart of the plate with two strikes. I await StarRider's
predictable "Beltran struck out looking in the final AB of Game 7" retort.

Since the Mets have done nothing but disappoint me over the last year, it's more like a sick feeling in my stomach.
Despite that, I'd love to see the Mets go into Philly and take those frauds behind the woodshed. |

Eh, at least you seem to have the better pitching matchups on paper.

Yeah, the Mets seemed to have the better pitching matchups against the Phillies last season. That worked out well.
Santana vs Durbin (edge to Johan obviously but I think Durbin will pitch well tomorrow)

It pains me to go with Philly on this one. But I think the long ball will play a big part in it and Philly has the theoretical edge there. Pedro should retire
while he still has 2 arms. Sad times since he was so great for a while, but thats over. He will be back on the DL this season, book it.
That said, GO Mets and Yankees!! |

twistedzman wrote: Oh yeah AMEN XXXX Sillies had the worst SP ERA in the NL - very high 4s but everytime they faced a team wearing the word "Mets" on the uniforms, the ERA dropped magically to below the 2.5s ERA. For those who always wished they could see them, this weekend will be a special joy as the Sillies roll out Walter Johnson, Lefty Grove, Bob Feller and Robin Roberts. |
