To me his (DC's) singing comes across as pitchy and more yelling than singing which is more in line with a rocker approach to performing. He and Carly were a lot alike. Great performer, very dramatic but it puts you on the edge. You have to be in the mood for that kind of music performance. Even still David Cook has a huge fan base like me.
