I have a question about the past seasons, since I wasn't here back then ? What made you decide to pick JP and Stacy to be the winners of CI and Fiji?

I'm kindof getting sick of the hidden Immunity Idol altogether. That's one thing I like about the merge episode - nobody can possibly have an idol at this point, so it won't even be brought up at all.Does that mean that it won't be rehidden? I don't usually like HII's myself, especially when they're rehidden every round. I almost always get on the wrong side of a HII in any online games, and they've even screwed me over without even being on my tribe. No, the hidden Immunity Idol is rehidden again, but nobody goes to Exile Island in the merge episode, and it doesnt' really come up too much in the episode after that either, so there's a bit of a break from it. I was talking about for next season (either Gabon or the season with my own cast): I'm probably not going to have a hidden Immunity, or if I do, there's only going to be one of them and it's not going to be such a big thing. I have a question about the past seasons, since I wasn't here back then ? What made you decide to pick JP and Stacy to be the winners of CI and Fiji? Great question. As you know, I always try to have different types of winners and winners with different kinds of storylines. I felt like Brandon won by being a hardworker and a pretty strong strategic player, and Tina won probably for being on a tribe that won so many challenges and for being in a majority alliance post-merge. I wanted to have a winner that had a big Immunity streak that helped them get to the end, and I was watching the Cook Islands cast reveal on the Early Show and J.P. was the last person to be shown, and for some reason, I just thought "That's the winner." Don't know why. It was just as simple as seeing him for about 4 seconds and thinking that was the winner. Then I obviously researched into all the other contestants and started developing the story around how J.P. could win, and the Immunity story, etc. With those three, that meant that I had three winners that were kindof similar: all shown as hardworking, all were kindof shown to be leaders, and all were somewhat positive. I wanted to have a winner that was more negative, although Stacy (and later, Candice) never ended up being as negative as I wanted them to be. I chose Stacy because I felt like she fit what I was looking for in my new type of winner: I wanted someone that would have a slow start, have a few early personality conflicts, play a good strategic game, and then have a come from behind win that wasn't really seen until near the end of the season. Jessica was the other possible choice for this, but I didn't see her as being as confrontational as I wanted Stacy to be, and honestly, I had known that Candice would win my All-Stars season for a long time before picking the cast, and I didn't think it would be good to have 2 young, white girls winning back-to-back seasons. I know you didn't ask about these, but Candice was supposed to be like another strategist-type winner, a Survivor fan, etc. And Dave was supposed to be the CPN winner that he was, and I wanted him to be very ruthless and cutthroat, have personality conflicts, be very strong strategically, and everything he was. So the first three winners were leaning positive, and the next three were all more negative. We'll see where that leaves us for Micronesia and beyond... Thanks for the question! :) |

You're welcome, SFC! :)
I just found something really cool: someone actually made pages on Wikipedia for my Guatemala and China fanfics, and they're very well done! Thank you to the person who made them, if you're reading. I couldn't find who it was. I was considering making something like that once I was done writing all of my seasons, but the pages that are up look great. :) |

Where are those articles? I spent a few minutes trying to find them with google, and on wikipedia itself, and couldn't find it. I did however find an
article for this season of your fanfic. Survivor Micronesia page
It looks like someone just copy and pasted some info from the real Micronesia for the first paragraph of information, it doesn't actually say that the article is about a fanfic, but you can tell it is about yours from the cast. |

Oh, I didn't know there was one for Micronesia - interesting find, and thanks to the person who made that one as well! :)
Here's the Guatemala one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:SurvivorFANFIC/Survivor:_Guatemala And the China one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:SurvivorFANFIC/Survivor:_China China is more complete than Guatemala or Micronesia. I added the kidnappings on this morning to the China one because those weren't there before. And both of these are also revisions of the actual pages for the seasons, so some of the stuff for the real show is still on there. |

Comments & Polls
Thank you very much for reading Episode 8 of SURVIVOR: MICRONESIA - FANS VS. FAVORITES. Please spend a few minutes to leave some comments and/or predictions for the rest of the story. If you don't want to fill out this "survey," then please feel free to leave any comments you like (even if it's just one or two lines), or just let me know that you read the episode. Anything will help and will be greatly appreciated! COMMENTS & QUESTIONS (A) What did you think of this episode? Please be as detailed as you can, wherever possible. Yeah! I finally caught up... and this episode was awesome. And I'll give you lots of details. :) Okay... I loved the Kathy and Joel part. This is what I thought would happen on the show: a Joel - Kathy - Tracy allience. I really felt for Joel being there, and I was rooting for him. Then... it switched to the power allience at Malakal. I can see it, but it's not my favorite allience (probably edited so I'm rooting for it to be overthrown?). Finally, Brooke's thought process was understood and enjoyable to watch. You have to root for her, and I don't know whether I like Brooke or Eliza more (for my favorite Survivor this season). The next Airai scene was a little depressing, but when Airai won the reward everyone had to be rooting for them. It (the scene) was needed. Reward challenge: Cool, but not my favorite. I couldn't stop thinking of how Leann struggled in Vanuatu on the hitching posts... then Kathy struggled! It was predictable. Exile Island: I know that Tracy and Kathy had to talk, but I didn't care much for the storm. It was interesting (the strategy). But when the storm hit on the second part of Exile Island, it got a little boring, but that's okay, since it was followed by... Joel... I think it's a great move on your part. I really really liked Joel in your fanfic and was sorry to see him go. Really well written. I didn't cry or anything, but it left me in shock. You're too good of a writer. The reward was funny, but I got a tad confused. It was almost forshadowing Tracy getting voted out, but yet Eliza was also shown doubting her fate at the same time. Did you mean this to be confusing? But the food part was funny. The little parts before the immunity challenge were good... I really don't have any comments on them except that they were needed and a tad interesting. Immunity Challenge: It was okay. Glad Brooke and Sherea were able to pull through, sorry that Airai lost, etc. Nothing too unique... However; I loved the strategy talk after the immunity challenge. It was entertaining and intriguing. I loved Eliza (as always) and thought she played it great. Mikey B was irritating when he was questioning Eliza, but I knew he would pull through for some reason... Jason and Tracy thinking they had Mikey B going home for sure was funny as well. Then Tribal Council! Intense, confusing, and great. Glad Jason was sent home, even though Mikey B isn't my favorite. A good end to the episode. Sorry for the rambling and I hope this made some sense (if so, you're really smart). I really loved this episode and you have me hooked for the rest of the season... good job. (B) What was your overall favorite part of the episode? Part after the immunity challenge with all of the strategy. (C) What would you rate this episode out of 10? (1 being the lowest; 10 being the highest) 9. Reasons for it not being a 10: Joel getting voted out and Airai's continued tribal council visits made it a tad depressing, but I understand it was necessary for the story. (D) Do you have any questions about this episode that you'd like to see cleared up in a future episode or at the Reunion Show? Nope... (E) So far, how do you think this story compares to my other fanfics (Guatemala to China)? I need to finish reading them, sorry! 1. SOLE SURVIVOR POLL (A) Which castaway will be the Sole Survivor? Brooke. 2. WHAT'S NEXT POLL (A) Which castaway will be voted off in Episode 9? Aras. (B) Next week, the two tribes merge. Do you have any other predictions for Episode 9? A Kathy - Mikey B - Tracy - Brooke - Eliza - Sherea allience will take down the power players in the Malakal tribe... Aras first since he's seen as leading and has a close tie with Mary. 3. POPULARITY POLL (A) Please rate each castaway's popularity from 1-10. 1 is the lowest score, while 10 is the highest. Please try to base your ratings only on the likeability of the characters in my story, not how they appeared on the real show. Alexis - 4 Ami - 4 Aras - 3 Brooke - 10 Chet - 1 Dave - 1 Earl - 6 Eliza - 10 Erik - 6 Ian - 5 Jason - 6 Joel - 10 Kathy - 6 Mary - 3 Mikey - 4 Natalie - 6 Ruth Marie - 6 Sherea - 4 Terry - 3 Tracy - 9 4. EDGIC POLL * For readers familiar with the concept of Edgic. For more information Edgic, please visit this thread: EDGIC (A) Edgic for my fanfics has been very successful over the past few seasons, so I would love to get some reader involvement in determining Edgic ratings again. Please submit your own ratings in this thread. Ratings will be compiled and I'll post the final ratings in a chart before the next episode. Rating: INV, UTR, MOR, CP, OTT Tone: NN, N, Mixed (M) , Neutral (), P, PP Visibility: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Please correct me on any of these - I'm still trying to get the hang of edgic! Alexis - UTR2 Aras - MORN3 (CPN3?) Brooke - CPP4 Eliza - CPP5 Ian - UTR2 Jason - CPM5 Joel - OTTP5 Kathy - MORP4 (OTTP4?) Mary - MOR3 Mikey - MOR4 (OTT4?) Sherea - UTR2 Tracy - CP3 Current Chart
* Please factor in your own ratings for Episode 8 for the following questions 1) Based on Edgic, which Survivor(s) do you think have the best chance of winning? 1. Tracy. 2. Brooke. 3. Eliza (?) 2) Based on Edgic, which Survivor(s) do you think are not eligible to be the winner, and are therefore "eliminated?" Alexis (UTR first four episodes), Kathy (at least three OTTs already), and Mikey B (two OTT and almost all negative tones). Thanks again for a great episode! |

Hello tropical rain, and thank you very much for all of these very thorough comments. It was nice to read all of your thoughts, and I
appreciate you taking the time to share them. It was good to know what you thought about each part of the episode! :)
Yeah! I finally caught up... and this episode was awesome. And I'll give you lots of details. :) Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it! :) Okay... I loved the Kathy and Joel part. This is what I thought would happen on the show: a Joel - Kathy - Tracy allience. I really felt for Joel being there, and I was rooting for him.I'm glad you liked the scene between Joel and Kathy. The only thing about a Joel/Kathy/Tracy alliance is that it would have been too similar to the connection between Leslie/Dave/Denise last season who bonded over "having kids" (even though Dave really didn't). I don't remember if you read China or not, I think you did, so I would't have wanted to make something so similar between back-to-back seasons. Glad you were rooting for Joel though. Then... it switched to the power allience at Malakal. I can see it, but it's not my favorite allience (probably edited so I'm rooting for it to be overthrown?). That's possible about it being edited in a way that you want it to be overthrown. We'll have to see what happens with that. Finally, Brooke's thought process was understood and enjoyable to watch. You have to root for her, and I don't know whether I like Brooke or Eliza more (for my favorite Survivor this season). Glad you like these two. You'll see more of both of them in the merge episode (although Eliza definitely won't be so dominant), and their content will be pretty important in terms of some future stuff that happens. The next Airai scene was a little depressing, but when Airai won the reward everyone had to be rooting for them. It (the scene) was needed. I agree. It was definitely to make you feel sorry for them, and then happy when they won the RC. Reward challenge: Cool, but not my favorite. I couldn't stop thinking of how Leann struggled in Vanuatu on the hitching posts... then Kathy struggled! It was predictable. Again, I agree with you. It definitely wasn't my favorite challenge, and I do remember Leann costing her tribe this challenge although I don't think Kathy cost Malakal as much time as Leann would have. Kathy didn't have a major problem - she's actually a pretty good swimmer. Exile Island: I know that Tracy and Kathy had to talk, but I didn't care much for the storm. It was interesting (the strategy). But when the storm hit on the second part of Exile Island, it got a little boring, but that's okay, since it was followed by... Yes, the storm was almost made entirely into a secret scene because I figured it wasn't the most exciting part of the episode. Joel... I think it's a great move on your part. I really really liked Joel in your fanfic and was sorry to see him go. Really well written. I didn't cry or anything, but it left me in shock. You're too good of a writer. Thanks for this. I appreciate your comment about it being well-written. I'm glad you felt the scene was shocking and that you had a reaction to Joel going. I figured this would be especially difficult since people disliked him in the real show, but I'm glad this went over with the reaction I wanted. The reward was funny, but I got a tad confused. It was almost forshadowing Tracy getting voted out, but yet Eliza was also shown doubting her fate at the same time. Did you mean this to be confusing? But the food part was funny. It wasn't supposed to be foreshadowing Tracy getting voted out, although I know that I said Jason, Mikey, and Eliza got closer because of the Reward so it might have seemed like she might be the odd person out. I don't remember Eliza doubting anything about her fate at the Reward though. I believe Jason was the one who said "I have a feeling we're still going to lose Immunity Challenges," and that was meant to be foreshadowing of Airai losing again. I didn't meant it to be confusing, no. The little parts before the immunity challenge were good... I really don't have any comments on them except that they were needed and a tad interesting. Thank you. I agree with this as well - they were both important scenes. The Malakal scene is important for the merge in a way, and the Airai scene was important for Airai losing the challenge. Immunity Challenge: It was okay. Glad Brooke and Sherea were able to pull through, sorry that Airai lost, etc. Nothing too unique... Yep, there was nothing special about the challenge other than the fact that people were supposed to be disappointed that Airai lost. Glad you liked the strategy part. I think it might be not quite as good as some people thought, but hey, if you liked it, that is great. I definitely won't disagree with you! Although I did the part with Eliza. :) Then Tribal Council! Intense, confusing, and great. Glad Jason was sent home, even though Mikey B isn't my favorite. A good end to the episode. Unlike the Reward, the Tribal Council *was* supposed to be confusing with some of the strange and conflicting answers, which Mikey picked up on. Sorry for the rambling and I hope this made some sense (if so, you're really smart). I really loved this episode and you have me hooked for the rest of the season... good job.No need to be sorry. I could understand all of your comments just fine. I'm glad you enjoyed the episode and are looking forward to the rest of the season. Hope you continue to enjoy! :) 9. Reasons for it not being a 10: Joel getting voted out and Airai's continued tribal council visits made it a tad depressing, but I understand it was necessary for the story.Thanks. I'm very happy with a 9! :) Interesting predictions for next week, and thanks for filling out the Popularity Poll as well. Great job on those Edgic ratings - thanks for posting them. There are a few corrections I would make, and I'll explain them below: Please correct me on any of these - I'm still trying to get the hang of edgic! Alexis - UTR2First, Aras being rated MORN3 or CPN3 is probably a bit much. He'll either end up UTR2 or MOR2. He only got one confessional and was pretty much only featured in the opening scene at Malakal, and even though his confessional was a little bit strategic, I'm not sure if it would be significant enough to bump him up to MOR. It may not be. And I didn't have a clear intention of making Aras negative in this episode, even though it might seem like you're supposed to be rooting against his alliance. That may be true, but if I wanted him to be negative, it would have been made very clear. For Brooke, I agree with the CP, but I don't think that she should be positive. I think you may have given it to her because you thought the audience was supposed to root for Brooke (and against Aras) when she was trying to form an alliance with Joel, but like with Aras, I didn't have a strong intention of making her positive in this episode. In fact, I would say she was closer to negative than anything, partly based on the comment that her "back-up plan was just taken away on the boat" when Joel was evacuated. Sometimes it can be hard to figure out tone though, so don't feel like it's a major issue. I thought Eliza would be CPM: positivity from the Reward, and then negative for screwing Jason over = Mixed. Quite a few people have given her the CPP though, so I'm not sure what will happen with this one. Sherea should definitely be INV1. She only ever had one sentence in the whole episode and she wasn't a part of any scenes. I'm not sure if you saw it, but after each episode, I post a Visibility chart that ranks everyone's visibility and gives them a 1-5 number which tends to be a good guidelines for Edgic. Other than those, the ratings that you had were very close to what I intended, so I definitely think you did a good job, especially for still being new to Edgic. You'll get better and better with more practice, and you're off to a great start already so it should be no problem for you soon! :) Your Contenders and Eliminated lists show that you have an understanding of how Edgic works. Very good job on both of those! Thanks again for your comments. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts, and it's great to have you reading along this season. Hope you continue to enjoy the rest of the story! Have a great day! :) |

Tracy (Decoy, but definitely above the rest.) 3. Aras (I've always felt him as a possible winner, but never above Brooke/Tracy/Joel/Eliza. Now that Joel is out and Eliza is pretty much a distraction, Aras seems like the next logical choice. He's definitely in charge of his alliance, so that could get him to the end.) 2) Based on Edgic, which Survivor(s) do you think are not eligible to be the winner, and are therefore "eliminated?" Alexis - Ignored Ian - Ignored Sherea - Ignored, no story Mary - Ignored early on, recent edit hasn't made up for it Kathy - Too OTT Mikey - Early Distraction Eliza - Distraction, 5/8 episodes she received a 5 visibility = not good For the merge next week, I think there'll be two solid alliances: Brooke/Sherea/Eliza/Kathy/Tracy vs. Aras/Ian/Mary/Alexis. Mikey could end up siding with AIMA or possibly BSEKT, but I see that as less likely. However, in order to avoid a tie, I could see Mikey voting with the girls for either Aras or Ian. Since Aras is sort of the leader of his alliance, I think he'll probably watch one of his buddies go before he does. Therefore, I could see Aras winning immunity and Ian being voted out. I think Brooke is going to go very far, but that's the only one I'm sure about. I think anyone else could go either way. Another great episode! I'm really excited for the merge! |

Sorry, I don't mean to put it off, but I'll have to respond tomorrow morning.
I've been working very hard on trying to finish up Episode 9 (it's almost done), and all I can say about this one is be prepared for a lot of deception and strategy. You'll have to be paying really close attention to follow along, but I think there's some great things that happen near the end of the episode. You'll find out tomorrow what they are! :) ETA: Also, I know it's been a while since I updated the Popularity Poll. I have all the data from the last three episodes compiled still, and I'll be doing that chart tomorrow as well.

Hello island sun. Thank you very much for taking the time to comment on the episode - I know you've been very busy. As always, I really
enjoyd reading your thoughts and I appreciate you taking the time to be so thorough and detailed with everything! :)
It was very good. Joel's exit was written very well and I also liked the reward with the desserts/waterfall. Those were probably my favorite parts of the episode because they were so realistic, and also enjoyable. Well, Joel's exit wasn't exactly enjoyable, but it was a good scene because I ended up very happy for Joel, even if he had to leave the game. Thank you. I would definitely have to agree that those were two of the best parts of the episode. I really liked Joel's evacuation scene as well and the Reward scene was fun to write. I understand what you mean about Joel's scene. 9Thanks for the 9. I appreciate that! This rating puts the episode at 9.5, which is tied with the China finale as the second best episode ever (well, since we started doing episode averages three seasons ago). I can't really say for sure since I haven't read the ending, but it's up there. I think it's definitely one of the most realistic, and I really like all the dynamics going on between the tribes. It should be a very intersting merge. Thank you. I agree with all of that as well. I do think there will be a few post-merge episodes that aren't quite as good, but there will be some ones that rank up high on the list too, so there shouldn't be a long boring streak or anything. Excellent predictions for next week. Thank you for posting them and for filling out the Popularity Poll! Nice to see all those 8s, 9s, and 10s there! :) For the merge next week, I think there'll be two solid alliances: Brooke/Sherea/Eliza/Kathy/Tracy vs. Aras/Ian/Mary/Alexis. Mikey could end up siding with AIMA or possibly BSEKT, but I see that as less likely. However, in order to avoid a tie, I could see Mikey voting with the girls for either Aras or Ian. I think Brooke is going to go very far, but that's the only one I'm sure about. I think anyone else could go either way. Very interesting thoughts. We'll have to see how it plays out! Awesome job on those Edgic ratings. I think everyone who posted ratings was extremely accurate this week, and yours are no exeption. Your Contenders / Eliminated lists look very good as well. Great work! :) 1. Brooke (Good complexity this episode, and her story has been set up for the merge. She'll be switching things up and making it very interesting. I think she'll go all the way.) You're definitely right that she'll have an important part in the merge, which you'll see in a few hours. Thanks again for your comments. I really enjoy reading your comments every week and you always bring up lots of great points! Hope you continue to enjoy the rest of the story, and have a great weekend! :) |

The episode will be going up at about 2:15. I just want to say to please read the notes though because I'm explaining a lot of the strategies and thought
processes and I think it would be really beneficial for you to know what's going on, since some of the things might not be fully clear.
