NO KODAK EASY SHARE
there are lots of power issues (the batteries that come with it will last two days, tops), and the lcd screens are very fragile. Mine was broken after a week or so (and neither of us dropped it or hit it against anything), and when I searched online about it, it was a common complaint The pictures are still okay, though (haven't gone to the trouble of getting a new one yet, partially because I have no clue what to buy). You just can't see them until you transfer them off your camera. FUN! They are all a surprise. |

Number of megapixels is seriously overrated. Depending on the sensor size, the more megapixels you have, there's a higher likelihood of some noise/grain
appearing in your photos. Plus the file sizes are fucking huge. Digital zoom is the biggest load of bullshit ever. Nothing more than a marketing tactic. So is
the ISO speed. "OMG! ISO 3200!111!!!!" Yeah, a big number is all fine and good...but holy fucking noise.
My first camera was a Kodak Easyshare...got great battery life, took a nice picture, no problems. I seriously recommend getting a camera with an LCD screen that can flip/rotate. Although the only company that makes those that I've seen has been Canon. |

My camera
I got it well over a year ago so they have newer and shinier versions of it, but I love it. I leave it around at parties and the next day I look through all the random photos on it. I has an amaaaaaaaaaazing super macro. Well, to me, anyway. |

I bought the daughter a Sony Cybershot DSC-S700 for Christmas, got it for $85. It takes pretty good pics and does video too. It only has a 3X zoom, but
it's optical and not digital.

an excellent option, if you don't mind going a little over the $100 line.
The Canon that Baby Please mentions would be a fine choice too. |

The Nikon D-series Digital SLR's are superb cameras. The D-40 would probably provide more capabilities than all but the most advanced amateur photographers
will ever need.
... not going to find one for anywhere near the $100 target price though. ;) |
