This show earns my unconditional love and support, especially because Donnell is the blackest black man I have ever seen on reality TV.
Cathy's awesome too because she's basically BB's Jen all over again. Even kinda looks like her if you squint. |

lol @ reading a thread before watching the show.Louie's a discriminating young man and no one can ever accuse him of not having done his research before he commits to something. On the ratings, I can't find the link anymore but it did fine, coming in 2nd to Hell's Kitchen, which I think might've been a pre-finale ep or something, so no to worry. Wipeout trounced everyting in the preceding hour, so it's going to be interesting to see how this plays out over the summer -- my bet is the public gets tired of the same ol', same ol' format of Wipeout and hopefully embraces Mama San. This is the best new RTV show in years, folks. |

No Tuesday Ratings 'Wipeout' for ABC'America's Got Talent' helps NBC win the overall ratings crown, while ABC claims the demoNBC's "America's Got Talent" had more eyeballs, but the premieres of two ABC extreme reality shows drew in younger viewers on Tuesday. Overall, NBC averaged a 6.6 rating/11 share, comfortably ahead of the 5.0/9 for CBS and the 4.8/8 for ABC. FOX's 3.5/6 was good for fourth, while The CW's 1.0/2 brought up the rear. Among adults 18-49, though, ABC's averaged a 3.1 rating, beating NBC's 2.8 rating to win the key demographic. FOX moved up to third with a 2.4 rating. CBS' 1.4 rating and the 0.6 rating for The CW trailed. In the 8 p.m. hour, NBC's "Celebrity Family Feud" had a 5.8/10, edging the 5.7/10 for ABC's "Wipeout," though the splashy ABC series averaged more viewers and dominated the young adult demos. CBS' "NCIS" was third with a 5.2/9, while FOX's "Hell's Kitchen" encore and The CW's "Beauty and the Geek" drew minimal attention. NBC grabbed a commanding lead at 9 p.m. with the 6.8/11 for "America's Got Talent." CBS' "48 Hours Mystery" took second, beating the 4.8/8 for FOX's new "Hell's Kitchen." ABC's "I Survived a Japanese Game Show" lost much of its lead-in, falling to a 4.4/7, but still finished second in the demo. The CW's "Reaper" had a 1.2/2. "America's Got Talent" closed strong for NBC with a 7.2/12 in the 10 p.m. hour. CBS' "Without a Trace" had a 4.6/8, edging ABC's Amish-centric "Primetime" special. |

I am honestly shocked at the level of love for this show since I was actually disappointed in it. I was excited for both Wipeout and I Survived a... and
Wipeout delivered but as others have said, this show is more reality show than Double Dare meets Japanese craziness like advertized and unlike others..I
wanted the ladder. I might check it out again but since I watch Hell's Kitchen...I have to tape it regardless so I might just give it another shot and
watch when I have free time.
Is this also a show in Japan? Not the actual game show they are on which I assume is normally a regular wacky show but Americans on a reality show..is that like a seperate show in Japan? |

Anyhoo, I rewatched the little overview of the whole season they did to see if there were any spoilers, and the best I came up with is 4 people who for sure go relatively far:

The TV Guide description for the 4th eppy is:
"Contestants dressed as babies are spun around to make them dizzy, then must pour milk into a giant baby bottle after maneuvering through an obstacle course while carrying the milk," and as you can see, these people are clearly doing that challenge: 
Cathy, Mary, the fat guy, and the gay hick all make the final 7, if one person is booted in each episode. yay for imminent CATHYOWNAGE <3

Hell's Kitchen is ending this week anyway so something has to fill that void in your tv life. <3Tis true...although I noticed that CBS is now airing 48 Hours Mystery in that timeslot and I love me some crime stories but since I am clearly a tv whore, I'll probably watch it too. ;) |

I wasn't too sure about this show going into it, but whipeout lead into it so I stuck arround.
I like it. I like Mama San! I hope she kicks Cathy's ass. Fat Guy for the win. |

Wipeout delivered but as others have said, this show is more reality show than Double Dare meets Japanese craziness like advertized and unlike others.That's precisely the reason I'm nuts about -- not only do you have the nuttiness of the Japanese game shows, but it's about as perfectly designed reality show as I've ever seen. The only flaw might be that they keep the same teams for the duration. This business of them nominating each other in broad daylight with the nominees chiming in is pure genius. Wipeout's fine as far it goes, which I doubt will be very far. The only way they can change up the format is to add new and ever-increasingly funny wipeout machines, such as the Dreadmill tonight. Plus, I don't like people calling this a reality show -- it's just an obstacle course, albeit a hilarious obstacle course. There's no game involved. I like Wipeout very much, though, but Japanese Game Show is almost perfect. Anyhow, I too would like to know more about this particular game show that they're on. Is it one of the leading Japanese shows? Did Japanese TV air the crazy Americans in Japan? |
