Nah....I wouldn't mind a Fed upset. I like the upsets, makes things more interesting and also gets some up and coming players in the ranks.

Federer is one of my favorite players to watch even if he wasn't I would be rooting for someone to break Sampras Grand Slam Record because I hated how
boring and unwatchable his game usually was and how little he tried to help the sport grow off the court..

I would be okay with Fed losing but I don't want to see Nadal win it. I would love to see someone like Safin, Tipsy or Baghdatis instead.
I also like the Williams sisters and would love to see Venus win again this year. However - I don't want to see an all Williams final. eta: Undies - I wish I would have played when I was young. I really have fallen in love with tennis and I know I'll be playing it for the rest of my life.

In hopes for a continuation of the string of upsets, the winners for the next two days are as follows:
Saturday: Martinez Sanchez (a qualifier) wins. Sunday (stupid 'middle Sunday' bullshit) Monday: Mattek wins. Vaidisova and Anna Chak., who've both been struggling all year, will play against one another on Monday, with one advancing to the 4th round, a match which itself would certainly be within the realm of winnability for either. Also on Monday... Roger vs. Lleyton. Please, please let that be an entertaining, hard-fought match. Win, win, WIN Russian women... and one named Jelena. WIN!!! In one way, this is by far my most HATED major: - 'Middle Sunday - WE don't play then!' stupidity - Starting matches at noon, or 1 PM (vs. 10 or 11 AM), rain be damned - The old 'wear white tradition', which has FINALLY gone by the wayside. I can deal with the wearing white stuff, but why oh why don't they start their matches at 11am like the rest of the free world? And I always love when it
rains and they have to play on the middle Sunday and it's a bunch of drunk Londoners in the stands instead of the uptight people who are there usually.
MsJones - I'm so glad that you've come to enjoy playing tennis. I haven't had the $$ to play in the past few years (some people don't realize HOW expensive this sport is, and I never realized until now how much my parents spent on it, and we were a blue collar, middle class family). I still have my Prince Synergy 26DB rackets from high school - those were my lucky rackets and they're not going anywhere :) I definitely want to start playing again when I get my nursing degree done and can afford a club membership. |

I am sure the Tipsy match will be on Wimbledon.org. That is what I watched it on yesterday. I have to go to the office and get my other laptop though.

I just learned that I actually misspoke above - the 'wear white' crap is STILL enforced. I just think that forcing players to do so is ridiculous:
"The players are expected to wear white and this has caused a great deal of controversy with some players refusing to adhere. The most notable example of this happened in 1990. American tennis star Andre Agassi refused to play in the tournament and cited the strict dress code as his reason that he would not participate." OH, but there's some other b/s which is at least PARTIALLY present - YAAAAAY, 'tradition'!! 
- from April, 2003: "Wimbledon curtsy gone WIMBLEDON, England - One of Wimbledon's most enduring traditions is finished - players will no longer have to bow or curtsy to the Royal Box at Centre Court. Players have been required to bow or curtsy to the royal family when walking onto or leaving Centre Court.
