We found out last season (or the one before) that the hat only contains one dance in it. But I'm sure that use a computer to randomly determine the dance
each couple will perform and just put their dance in the hat for the camera.

I don't like being a conspiracy theorist but sometimes it's too convenient what a couple gets. Remember when Cedric had one last chance because Mia
saved him? And then he got Mia the week after. That didn't feel entirely random but I guess it could have been (I am sticking with my doubts).
I think choreographers do get a little bit of say in the type of couple they want to work with - I bet Mia gets a lot of leeway because her dances always involve two contemp. dancers or one contemp/one female ballroom (someone noticed this pattern on another board). If it's a new choreographer or a one-time choreographer (whose super busy), I don't know how much time there is to improvise for the dancers. In those cases, I again think there is some consideration given to who gets what (in a general sense and not specific to individuals). I don't pay attention to the closing credits or whereever the disclaimer is, but even with that, I still have a couple of doubts on the randomness. I understand though why people do believe it is random. I don't have any real proof to suggest otherwise - just a feeling.

Has a couple ever had to perform the same genre of dance twice before making it into the Top 10?
example: Drawing a hip-hop routine in Week 1 AND Week 3. etc. Or is it a known fact that once they perform a specific genre of dance, that option is no longer available to be drawn? |

(like who decided to give Rayven and Jaimie, the unknown coupled, the crappy hip-hop routine, while Joshua/Katee, the exposed couple, get the best one) I'll bet that if the dances had been switched, Joshua and Katee would have rocked the so-called crappy routine and Rayven & Jamie would have fucked-up the "No Air" routine. Just a thought. It's really hard to evaluate choreography without being colored by the dancers who bring it to life... |

Has a couple ever had to perform the same genre of dance twice before making it into the Top 10?The only one I can think of right now (at the top of my head) is that Pasha did two jazz routines (bird one and colourful suspenders one) on weeks 2 and 5. |

Absolutely. Some couples kill it sometimes and some couples kill it all the time. I don't think the latter is a coincidence.
Some choreographers are exacting enough that their stuff always comes out at a high level, like Mia. OTOH, Alex seems to give up if the couple sucks but if they're talented, the results are awesome. |

Fingernails. We haven't yet beaten to death the length of each dancer's fingernails. Let's save that for next week.

Funny. I thought this was a discussion board where people discussed things.

Which is exactly why we should not forget their fingernails!

I'm not crazy about Mia's stuff, or most contemporary for that matter. The movements are so free-form and unstructured that it's almost impossible
to tell if someone made a mistake unless they slip and draw blood. She's too damned smug anyway.

Is there a reason why Kherington is always barefoot when she dances? Can she not dance and wear shoes at the same time?

Or talk or chew bubble gum. But she can smile like a Chesire Cat.
She rehearses in shoes but then doesn't wear them, so the only conclusion is, no, she can't dance in shoes. |

Katee doesn't wear shoes either. It was very noticeable in the routine they did last week. Josh was all trussed up and Katee looked like a little orphan
girl with no shoes.

If you watch the Samba that Henry and Vanessa did in the Australian version, you'll see that Vanessa danced barefoot, but she danced most of it on her
toes, so she was getting a lot of the same lines you'd get from wearing shoes.
Too geeky? |

I agree Katee looked strange with no shoes in the broadway number, but she did have shoes on for the hip hop number the week before, so she can dance with
shoes.
