I was really surprised that no licensed professional was listed as a "consultant".I'd be very surprised if they didn't have at least a few professionals on the staff, writing and/or producing. There's simply too much knowledge of the therapeutic process. I really hope they bring this show back next season. I think its excellence is slow to be recognized. |

Still digging this show, but I've long abandoned the idea that you can pick/choose which patients to watch. It all spills over. If you didn't watch
Laura, then you missed a big part of the Alex storyline (not to mention, his funeral), and vice versa. If you didn't watch the Gina sessions, then
Alex's death would've seemed to come out of nowhere. Really like where they've gone with the series. There's even been gold in the Jake and
Amy episodes.

For whatever reason ( and to the relief of several other Torrent monkeys ) episode 38 was finally posted and I can catch up in time for the finale.

You're right - there wasn't overlap the first several weeks, but as the series progressed, the stories bled into each other.
And yeah, the Jake and Amy story grew on me too. Especially when Jake, who started off as such an insensitive brute, became a much more sympathetic character. I liked what Paul said about Amy in his last session with Gina - that he doubted he could ever know her (or help her). |

This thread should really be more than 2 pages. I LOVE this show- I find every thing about it mesmerizing. The Paul and Gina sessions are amazing. Season 2
better be in the works.

I watched the "Sophie" episodes On Demand one after another, and that worked because Sophie doesn't have any crossover with the other characters.
(The only problem was that when Sophie needed help changing out of her wet clothes, I didn't know at first that the woman helping her was Paul's wife,
because she's introduced in another character's (Laura?)storyline.) The "Jake & Amy" episodes can also be watched all together for the
same reason. Not so for "Laura," "Alex" and "Gina." There's so much crossover between those characters that you have to watch
them together from one week to the next. I finished all the episodes this week, and I found the show to be interesting and different. But I'm not sure I
could commit to another 40+ episodes next year, because this show could become repetitive and boring very easily. Not that there's much chance of a second
season. After two months on the air, "In Treatment" has generated virtually NO buzz, and probably has very few viewers, if this 2-page thread is any
indication. Too bad. It deserved more attention than it got.

It's the 5 episodes a week thing. Most people just don't have that much time to commit to a TV show, and they probably figure that if they miss a few
episodes they'll be lost.
This is one of those shows that is made for DVD viewing. |

I know only like 2.5 people watched this, but HBO renewed it for a second season, yippee!

So they cancelled Rome and Deadwood, but renewed the two lowest-rated shows on their network (Tell Me You Love Me and In Treatment).
I really don't know what's going on over at HBO these days. Mind you, this is a good show and I'm glad it was renewed. But I just don't understand the decision making process lately. |

Well this news made my day. I watch In Treatment faithfully. Taped the East Coast feed and settled back around 9 or 10 to watch. Every day. I used to watch
my soap every day. This was no different. I'm not a big purchaser of DVDs, but this will be one I get and watch. I wish I could find a therapist like the
one Gabe Byrne portrayed so I could have transference issues all over the damn place. sigh.

I hear ya, DG. ;)
I watched every damn episode (happily) but my DVR screwed up on the final Paul & Gina ep. Anyone know where I can catch it? I look for it to be repeated on HBO, but it's always the wrong week or character.
