SOA, considering that you like IE, you should switch to Maxthon.

Why don't you people just save your bookmark file BEFORE upgrading and then import them back into the new browser?

All I know is that I was never able to view BB live feeds with FF2 I use now. Only good thing about my old IE experience.

Okay ...
Here's my FF2 to FF3 Upgrade Checklist. 1. Manually copy and paste each bookmark into a text file. 2. Write down the name of every extension/theme/add-on/whatever I use. 3. Download and Install Firefox 3. 4. Manually go to and bookmark each page in the text file. 5. Search for 3.0 compatible extensions for ones that were not compatible. 6. Follow the link on page 3 of this thread for configuration tips to speed up the browser. 7. Cry myself to sleep. Okay, I think I got it this time. HOORAY! |

BTW - If you DO need to reinstall Firefox 2.0.0.14 at this point, pretty much every website ever took it down. (even the ones that DO say the page is for DLing
2.0.0.14 are LYING - they've all been updated to 3.0 - download.com, etc. - not just the firefox site itself.)
I found it at mininova.org as a torrent, though. |

Firefox automatically makes backup files of your bookmarks.
Just import it into the new browser. Go to Start Menu, Run, then type %AppData%, and go into your Firefox profile and they will be under "bookmarkbackups". |

For some reason, Firefox 2.0 is no longer storing my posts in its memory. I used to be able to post something, go to another site and then use the back button
and my post would still be there. Now it's not.

Now it's not. I think that's a Yuku thing. I lost half of a huge BSG post last night due to this. I have to install a new harddrive on my backup PC over the next few days, so I'll be putting 3.0 onboard it clean. I'm kind of looking forward to it. |

Firefox 3 Vulnerability Found Five hours after Mozilla officially released Firefox 3.0, researchers found a vulnerability in the new browser. Tipping Point has verified the bug and reported it to Mozilla, Tipping Point said on Wednesday. Since Mozilla is still working on a fix, the researchers won't share details about the problem. Tipping Point ranked the severity of the vulnerability as high, but said that users would have to click on a link in an e-mail or visit a malicious Web page before being affected. The issue affects users of Firefox 3.0 as well as Firefox 2.0. Once the problem is fixed, Tipping Point will publish an advisory on its Web site, it said. Tipping Point found out about the vulnerability through its Zero Day Initiative, which lets researchers earn cash by submitting new vulnerabilities to the company. Once Tipping Point validates the issue, it pays the researcher for the information and notifies the relevant software vendor of the technical details. Mozilla did not respond to a request for comment. Mozilla launched its newest browser on Tuesday along with a marketing stunt that went a bit wrong. The company announced that it wanted to set a Guinness World Record for the largest number of software downloads in a 24-hour period. However, the volume of downloads crippled Mozilla's site, and so customers in the U.S. couldn't begin downloading the software until two hours later than expected. Still, Mozilla said it logged more than 8 million downloads within 24 hours. There is currently no record for number of software downloads in a day, but Mozilla must now wait for review of the stunt by Guinness officials. |

I'm getting used to it. The theme I usually use is in the process of being upgraded, the creator says. I miss it.
I literally just opened up every bookmark and copied the URL into a text doc and then upgraded and put them all back in one at a time. Not too many extensions broke. My BitComet and Realplayer extensions broke and my Long Titles one (but, hopefully 3.0 fixed the tooltip/image alt text hover problem anyway). And my FireBug isn't working and the theme ... and I think that was it. And thanks to (I forget who!) the person that posted that link with the 50 most helpful extensions or whatever. I had a bunch of them, and added another 4-5 to mine. You all should get that "PicLens" one. It's not very useful unless you're on YouTube or PhotoBucket or whatever, but it looks really cool. And you can launch it on any other site to see a list of News/Sports/Entertainment/Etc. videos and pictures. It's kinda cool. |

Fuck. I downloaded it, and was all excited because it looks clean as hell.
Then I realized they don't have mouse gestures, so I'm completely fucked. I don't know how I ever made it without them. |
