I was surprised to see this kind of thing from Nilla, cuz I do think that underneath all her pomp lies some decency. She and I have enjoyed some friendly exchanges in the past, and I've gone to bat for her a time or two. So I expressed my disappointment in her choice tonight. I mean I suppose we all care about the boards since we have been posting at them for seven years, and CLEARLY you care about some of the posters since you are wearing an avatar of a dead poster. One might surmise that means you "care" more than I do, noe? It remains a valid question because in the last seven years way more than two posters have died and yet only two we incorporated into the wallpaper. Questioning that is disrespectful to the dead how exactly? b) that you'd make a post like that during a time when people are clearly grieving. You may or may not have noticed that most of the people outraged with this thread are bandwagoners who began their comments with "I didn't know who Snoopy was but....." Which was precisely my point. This remains OT, or i this case the dump, and asking how a determination about the wallpaper was made hardly equates to TC's constant hassling of Susie q about her dead kid or any of the plethora of other outrageous comments that are made here on a daily basis.

Nilla, your question might have merit in re: how the background icons get chosen, but your timing was disrespectful. The hindsight attempt to parse it down to its literal meaning doesn't disguise the fact that your timing in posting it was tacky. You admitted as much by saying that you'd probably get censured for posting it, no? Comparing your post to TC's worse post reminds me of two kids getting caught taking a dump in the corner - the first kid tries to distract by pointing to the second, saying, "But, but, but - his pile of crap is BIGGER!" They're still both big piles of crap.

I don't think it was a "hindsight attempt" at all, and as tacky as it may be, it's a valid question. Contrast that question with TC's "just because you're dead doesn't make you interesting" thread (directed at a lesser-known poster's death), which is sitting on page 1 of OT. Then take into account the fact that TC is slamming the death of Susie's kid in this thread, yet another poster was banned from Sucks for doing much the same thing in a PM. It wasn't posted in public here or anywhere else, but the dipshit (and he is a dipshit, at best) still got banned. If you're going to set a standard, it has to apply to everyone.

I suffered a devastating loss Saturday morning. In my case, I was on my own. My kids were away. The rest of my family were out enjoying a beautiful day. I couldn't wrap myself in my beloved's family because they couldn't be located to be informed. I couldn't cope with my friends' caring. I couldn't speak but I could type. 'nilla was amazing. She helped me through my darkest hours in a way that no one in real life could have done during those first few catastrophic hours. She got me to the point where I was able to reach out and accept the hugs of people in real life. I will be eternally grateful and will never forget. Thank you, my friend.

I think that anything posted in public is fair game for flame material, no matter how distasteful the result. That's always been the rule. If the admins want to change that rule, no problem, but it still has to apply to everyone, and that's not happening here.
