Probably 20 miles from my house. The Flood Warning continues for the Wabash River at Mount Carmel. * Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled. * At 9:00 am Thursday the stage was 31.2 feet. * Moderate flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast. * Flood stage is 19.0 feet. * Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 34.0 feet by Sunday evening then begin falling. * At 34.0 feet... flood of record height is in progress. In areas that are not protected by levees, water has never been this high. Flood destruction is great in much of western Gibson County Indiana and eastern Wabash County Illinois. Many agricultural levees fail. Although this is the highest river stage of record, the flood flow is still less than March 30, 1913. Such a flood flow would reach an estimated 36 feet. Maximum probable flood estimated at 39 feet given current hydrological conditions.

Showers and thunderstorms will spread slowly east across the Illinois river valley through this evening...then into central Illinois Friday. Showers and thunderstorms will get into eastern Illinois by Friday afternoon and evening. Expect heavy rains of 1 to 1.5 inches across the area by midnight Friday night with local 1.5 to 2.5 inch amounts northwest of the Illinois river. These heavy rains will aggravate water levels across the area that has received several inches of rain during the past two weeks. Some flooding of low lying areas was still being reported in southeast Illinois southeast of I-70 where there were some road closures.

There are storms north and south of me. Here it is 90, extremely humd and wind gusts over 50 mph. Storms are supposed to arrive around 8:00

THIS STORM WAS LOCATED NEAR HALES CORNERS...MOVING NORTHEAST AT 47 MPH. That shit in Walworth County actually happened about 1:30. I watched it from my office window. It was raining sideways and frontways and backways and all ways possible. Was kind of cool!

The detour on I-80 probably takes 3-4 hours extra. Furniture from a furniture store is floating down the street--Smulekoffs. This where live TV is kind of fun. Smulekoffs has been in downtown Cedar Rapids for forever. The last I saw on the news the water was up to the roof. The entire Cedar Rapids Public Library is underwater. The theatre is going underwater. Downtown there are TONS of businesses that are underground - the comedy club, piano lounge, etc- they've gotta be completely filled up. There was a train bridge across the river that collapsed this morning - they had piled train cars on top filled with rocks to make sure it didn't float away - so most of the train cars fell in the river. As of now they are predicting that the river will crest tomorrow morning at 32 feet - TWENTY FEET above flood level. It's going to take weeks and weeks till all the water gets out of there. A flash flood warning is in effect for all of southern Wisconsin except for Milwaukee, Racine and Kenosha counties until 1:30 a.m. The warning will most likely be extended at some point tonight, Borghoff said. Areas north of Madison and parts of Dodge and Sheboygan counties already have received 2-4 inches of rain today and could see 3-6 inches by the time the storms move on later tonight or early tomorrow, Borghoff said. Areas south of Milwaukee could get up to four inches of rain, he said. "This is pretty much unprecedented, to get day after day with 3-6 inches of rain in the Wisconsin River valley," Borghoff said.
