Ditching Verizon and my LG 9900. Will still have to use my CrackBerry for work (unless I can convince my IT support to allow me to switch to the iPhone).
can't wait!

Ok - help me out here please OT.
I'm a T-Mobile fanboy for oh, about 5 years. Their customer service ROCKS. But I'm tired of their crappy fucking phones, so I want to switch to AT&T. Is it possible to switch keeping the same number? Also, can anyone state the quality of phone calls on a crackberry? I have somewhat bad hearing so I like phones with LOUD volumes, and right now I have a Razr V8 and it's relatively fine as far as that goes. Also, battery life for Crackberry? Good? Bad? How long can you leave the thing idle without it dying on ya? I'm debating between iphone or a crackberry but I think the crackberry will win out because of the actual keyboard. I have an ipod touch and I just can't seem to get used to the onscreen keyboard thing. I like FEELING what I'm pushing. |

You can talk OK but there's no speaker phone and the ringer has stopped working recently. (It only works in vibrate mode.) A full charge gives you about 3-4 hours talk. But if you use it for anything else (i.e. Web surfing) the full charge lasts less than an hour. I'll be switching to the iPhone

Yeah, I guess each does have it's pros and cons...sigh. The iPhone's battery will be much superior for web surfing/texting/e-mailing. I know this
because the ipod Touch battery lasts F O R E V E R. I leave it in standby without shutting it off and even with playing tons of music it can go about 5 days
before I need to charge it. That's the best part.
The keyboard is the whole problem for me though. I am a huge texter at work and I just know I can't get used to the onscreen keyboard with no haptic feedback. I'm faster at texting on numerical 1-9 keypads as it is, nevermind if I can't FEEL the keys. |

The 83xx series battery is less hardy than the 88xx due to size issues.
But there is no effin way you should be getting only 1 hour of web surfing. Your battery is toasted or something. That said, because some days I am on it constantly, I leave a Blackberry an extra pod charger station on my desk, and my regular charger at home. |

So the 88xx series batteries are better?

thicker battery, longer charge.
Also the Pearl (shite), Curve and Bold all have speaker phones. |

Yeah, I was gonna say, my curve has speakerphone.
My battery (only had it since Jan) lasts an awful long time. I don't chat on the phone a lot, but I surf and text and it lasts up to two days without needing a recharge (that's if I keep talk time very very minimal, which I always do - I hate people). |

I checked the board reviews and specs...
88xx 300 minutes (talk time) 83xx 240 minutes (talk time) 25% difference is a lot. But like I said an extra $45-50 and you can have a chrome pod charger at work in addition to a home charger. Leaves you pretty protected in most environments. I always like to keep charged. Or buy an extra battery and keep it charged. One thing I DON'T do - is over do it on bluetooth. That thing will kill your power fast.

New question, not related to phones really. Any experiences to report on AT&T's wireless phone insurance? It's $4.99 a month. But on Tmobile, I
have this fucking wireless insurance shit for over 2 years and when I dropped my phone on the cement and cracked the screen I was told that it wasn't
covered because it was MY fault the screen broke. Anything that is "YOUR" fault is not covered. WHAT?
So basically what you're saying is the phone just has to miraculously cease to function without any human error for you to cover it? |

Not sure, but I do know that AT&T won't let you buy insurance on the iphone.

I just got the Curve 8330 about a week ago. It was a complete accident, really...I just needed a new one. I wasn't even aware that it was brand new or in
demand. Turns out the Sprint Store I walked into had the only available unit just about anywhere in the area. With my upgrade discount, instant rebate, etc...
I ended up paying about $80 for it. Best.Decision.Ever. "Crackberry" isn't an exaggeration.

Yes, you can. It's called number portability or some such.
Spare blackberry batteries though are pretty cheap, you can get a standard battery at crackberry for $20. I've not tried any of the extended batteries yet. In fact, a lot of the charging cradles I've seen have an extra spot for a spare battery...so it seems to be a normal thing to a spare battery charged and ready to go. |

I have a sidekick LX. I have had every version (except the original BW version) of the sidekick. This new one though I can't hear jack through the speaker.
Everyone sounds like they are talking through a tin can and string. I called several times complaining and was told by Tmobile I was SOL because I didn't
get the insurance. However this last time when I called and asked how much it would be to get out of my contract I was told, then they seemed to panic and are
willing to exchange my phone. Though I think this time I am changing to ATT and an iphone next month. My question is how well AIM works on it. Our inner office
communication uses AIM for messaging btw offices and when we are out of the office. Does anyone know how well it works on the iphone now? My boss has a
Blackberry pearl, and he is always missing im's because of how the set up notification is. What we liked about the sidekick is how it notified you of a im
separately of any message you had in text or email.
