I am reading The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. It came highly recommended -- I recommend it to the garbage dump -- it is awful. Hopefully,
I'll be done with it tomorrow. Next up is Your 15th Club -- only interesting if you are a golfer

Just finished "If I Am Missing or Dead" by Janine Latus. It's a memoir about the events that led up to her sister's murder. By this I do not
mean that it's a "true crime" type of book--it is not. It's a book about women who persist in putting up with abusive men. The author is very
hard on herself for her past mistakes.
Truly an amazing book. I recommend it to any woman on this board, and also to Nomiii. |

Congrats!
"The Complete Book of Pregnancy & Childbirth" is also good. There's a new, updated version, I think. |

"What to Expect..." tends to be too alarmist and perfectionist. It's good for basic stuff, though. I recommend Labor Day: Shared Experiences from the Delivery Room. It's full of
interesting birthing stories, every kind of birth that you could possibly think of. It really gave me a feel for the entire experience, and was an easy read to
boot.
Right now, I'm reading a crappy book I picked up at Walmart called "The Hob's Bargain." Some magical chick has her family massacred, and she has to try to stop these bloodmages and she makes a deal with this troll-dude on a mountain. It's pretty weak. |

What to expect is terrible. It should be called "what to expect when you want an eating disorder"

I really like this thread - I wish I had known earlier it existed.
I'm trying to get through my bookshelf, filled with books I've bought since high school (almost 10 years or so). It sucks because I'm no longer interested in some of them. Right now I'm reading Lucky by the author who wrote Lovely Bones (I really liked that book) and The Devil and the White City. The first one is easier to read but I'm getting bored. The second one is great but dense at times. |

I'm just finishing the 3rd in the Twilight series - Eclipse.
I also read about these because of my teenagers and I really like them. I was never able to get into the dark vampire books, but I'm really loving the forbidden love of Edward and Bella. Just named our new golden retriever Bella. :) And Jacob, completing the love triangle makes it just my kind of book. |

I've heard good things about Wicked, I just can't seem to muddle through it. I keep thinking I'm in the wrong mood.
