Yeah I do consider things like how many times an airline has crashed before I will fly them. I also take in to consideration the country the plane is from. Its
important to know who is doing the maintenance on planes I think. For example, you are not going to fly an African airline based on the fact that their
economic instability may lead to cost cutting when it comes to aircraft maintenance plus they don't have to comply with recognised standards. Why the fuck
risk it?
For example, the probability of crashing on a BA flight is something like 160,000,000 - 1. The probablity of crashing on an African flight is about 60,000 - 1. I'm not taking any chances! Yeah the 737 crashes (there were a few over a few years) were attributed to problems with the rudder. I think it was something to do wth particles of metail getting in to the hydraulics that control the rudder. The NTSB conducted a huge investigation. |

Nah. If they have recently crashed it takes years for them to find out why that plane crashed and to fix the problem.

Choosing an airline here based on "safety record" would be idiotic...unless of course it was an 8 seater prop "airline" in Alaska, as specified above. |
