2. Cloud
Probably the 'staple' of the FF series or protagonists, Cloud getz #2. Cloud has an extremely complex and well-developed story-arc, the game starts out with him being hired as a mercenary for Avalanche, a group bent on taing down Shinra. In Cloud's childhood, he was frail and weak, and vowed to join 'SOLDIER' to be as good as his role model, Sephiroth, to impress anyone who ever doubted him. You're lead to believe that he did in fact make 'SOLDIER' all through out the game, until you find out that Cloud never even made the cut and was a mere private, or sumfin'. Part of Cloud and Tifa (WHORE)'s key memory was in Nibelheim, when Cloud and Sephiroth went to go check out a misfunctioning reactor. Cloud was never there at all (well, he was the random dude in the Shinra uniform) and was merely linked through Zack's memories. It's all pretty dayum confusing, so moving on. Cloud misses out at #1 for being, for the most part, bland. Quistis was under-developed and thus boring, but Cloud got the entire story arc, and was still boring.
