I think its a very telling line, because it was so sincere and full of emotion that it wasnt meant to be flippant..or superficial. I think most people felt Ben was apologizing for how he made Locke's time on the island miserable...but that really makes no sense cause Ben didnt do much to Locke on the island. Except shoot him. But thats not making someone's life miserable...and Ben is the type of guy who would just say "Im sorry Locke for shooting you..." BEn was saying goodbye to Locke, knowing they were switching places for awhile and Ben knowing he might never make it back to the island...and i think what he was really saying is huge to the plot of Lost. Ben's actions on the island...way before the plane crash...changed Lockes life completely from what it was supposed to have been. Thats what Ben was apologixing for...and thats a HUGE reveal. Not many people seem to be discussing that at all for some reason... |

I thought Ben's apology to Locke was significant too. Ben must have been somehow responsible for all of Locke's misery throughout his life. But how
was Locke to know that & why did Ben bother apologizing? I suppose it might have been only to ease his own conscious but Ben hasn't shown much of a
conscious so far. (Except when Alex died.)

Yeah, I thought he was just apologizing for shooting him and making him kill his dad. Seems reason enough to me to make a sincere apology.

Could Anthony Cooper have been lying about how he got to the island?

Ben's statement could also be interpreted as an apology for the misery and stress that is bound to fall upon Locke as the new chosen one on the island.
Although Ben has spent his life trying to protect the island, and continued fighting for it to the end, he also (eventually) accepted the inevitability of his
situation. I would expect his knowing that he was leaving gave him a sense of sadness, but possibly a little relief as well that his role as leader and
manipulator of the masses was coming to a close on the island, and maybe entering a new chapter off the island of controlling a different and more important
game. His passing of the torch came with an apology for a reason.

Ben wasn't leaving the island forever. He's been coming & going at will for ages so what makes you think the wheel turning changed that?

Much like the Island making previous vistiors unable to die, Ben will also similarly be unable to return to the Island. Any and all attempts will result in
misfires, distractions, brick walls, etc.
Though I wonder if he can now die. |

Screerider wrote: The only caveat to that is that it's almost a forgone conclusion that the O6 will eventually get back to the island. We KNOW they can't do it
alone (ie. without Ben's help), so that makes me wonder if he will indeed get back, regardless of what the status quo has been regarding turning the FDW.

I still think Ben thinks those 2 things were necessary. And i definitely dont believe Ben nor Locke feel bad about Locke's supposed dad dying. Its gotta be more than that. |

Jack cant find the island on his own, no matter how many plane rides over the ocean he takes. Ben knows that when you get the O6 together, the island will try very hard to draw them back again. All Ben has to do now is be with them when that happens ;) thats his ticket back! |

Bruh, you only need to post one time. Edit your posts if you can't figure out how to insert multiple quotes into the same post.

Nah, its easier for me to respond to a post as i read. :)
Its easier for you to skip any of my posts that arent addressed to you. ;) One huge, messy post, or four smaller, concise posts...its not that big of a deal. |

I love the "if you don't like it, don't read it" defense. So much.
And i definitely dont believe Ben nor Locke feel bad about Locke's supposed dad dying. Mark this date down, ladies and gentlemen. I actually agree with phantom. It is a rare occurrence indeed. |

Richard seems to be ageless so I can assume he has the ability to come to & go off the island even after it's been moved. I think Ben has the same
ability.
eta: I don't mind phantom's commando posting style (at least it's easy to follow) but I do cringe when someone says if you don't like it - don't read it.
