Ah... the bags.

The bags were originally a one-shot thing. Part of a bit of inspired silliness.
Leading up to the anticipated boot of Rodger, something we, as well as most of the other boards (except for the few that still held out for the theory that Lis and Rodger had a secret alliance with Tina and Colby was going to be booted ... for the 4th time...) well before this was positively confirmed by DR's infamous birdie. In fact, there was enough lead time that a little expedition was put together by a small group of Eliiipsians to pay a visit to Rodger's home town.
The inspired silliness I alluded to was the "Eliiipsis Prize Patrol"... someone came up with the bag idea (playing off the whole "secret society" thing) and cut up some shopping bags to use, each with three eye holes (three eyes... Eliiipsis... oh, never mind...) and they proceded to take pictures of various members of the group around town, including inside a restaurant known to be frequented by Rodger. They also took a picture of the group "awarding" Rodger his lovely parting gift, thanks for playing. That picture bacame part of our "prediction summary" that week. It was all good-natured, goofy fun.
And it was, presumably, the end of the bag saga.

Later that year, another small IRL gathering did their own spin on the bags, resulting in the pic now in the collection of our friendly neighborhood angel. It was sort of a finger in the eye of a certain obcessive, malevolent swanboy... and it was intended for internal consumption only. It was leaked by one of our (apparently numerous...) moles and served only to stir the shit, ratchet up the "board wars" sentiments, and intensify the obcession of the aforementioned swan.

The bags, including several of the ones actually used for the "Prize Patrol" pics, did turn up at a couple of later IRL's and used for sets of silly pictures. Again, good natured goofiness. With the exception of the dildo incident, that's all the bags ever were or intended to be.

Sorry it's not as dark, mysterious, or infused with deep meaning as legends may have cast it.

Well... there were a couple of folks who had three eyes without the bags. But we never let them out of the attic.

For all I know, E is still bringing them their gruel every morning...
