the alternate endings have already leaked to the interwebs. they are lame and i don't see how anybody could think they are real red herrings -- just
gimmicks. it's exactly the same scene except one has sawyer in the coffin and the other has desmond in the coffin, neither of which really seems plausible.

Great finale with one exception ... that ridiculous frozen wheel. That alone caused me to have visions of the Fonz jumping over it as Ben pushed his little
heart out.

totally agree. i love the show's weirdness, but the frozen wheel was just over the top, especially when you combine it with the 80s-style sparklemotion
special effects and wide-eyed ben.

I thought it was bad ass. Maybe because I wasn't spoiled, I enjoyed it more, but you guys knew it was literally a "frozen donkey wheel", and
thus had negative connotations going in.

No, whether on page, or on screen, turning a wheel to move the island was still retarded. The only thing that saved it was getting to watch Jack try to doubt
it, and then Hurley calling his ass out.

So next season will essentially be Weekend at Berniesque, right?

I think the frozen donkey wheel...was exactly what it was to represent that it had been there for probably centuries. Notice in the cavern were ancient
hieroglyphics as well.
The Dharma folk who were doing the experiments had no idea of it's actual existence. So Ben's destroying their elaborate experiment to get to the REAL cause for the time variances was really cool. I was wrong from last year saying it would be Michael in the coffin. This is actually much more exciting story-wise with Locke being in it. It's neat that the clipping Jack had from last season's ender really wasn't a prop. It had the correct name and said it was suicide. Now we know if the island doesn't want you dead off island...you don't die. So Locke's suicide means it is what the island wants. It's meant to somehow get everyone back together to go back. Don't you think that must mean Walt as well? I do. Sun is either way ahead of everyone in working to get back....or she is simply after revenge towards Widmore. I'm hoping she knows Jin is alive and is working to get back somehow. They'll probably leave that up in the air for abit...us not knowing exactly what her motives are. The thing that perplexes me is the dream Kate had with Claire in it. At that point we know Locke had already spoken to Kate about going back. Did Kate dream what she wanted to hear from Claire or was that really Claire warning Kate? That is hard to know now too. Kudo's to Aloha Oe again for her spotting Desmond at the funeral parlor...it just turned out to be one of their alternate endings. tricky! I actually like it they are trying to ttrick now...makes it all the more fun<g>. And for the record...my reading spoliers never makes me negative about what they decide to do in the story. When I read a major spoiler..I always say...we need to see the actual production to see the magnificence of the story. It always plays out so wonderfully on film. I'm gung ho for next season. I'll be reading this thread the entire time in between... |

These are the alternate endings in case
anyone wants to see them. Nothing exciting, just Desmond and Sawyer in the coffin with Jack and Ben making the same sad faces.

Doesn't really matter whether they crank a big ass wheel, fire up an engine, or do handstands and wiggle their noses while not wearing pants. And this is coming from someone who has bought every other mythological idea that's been proposed, and has been happy with every answer given, to date.I just wish they'd answer the burning question of how Sawyer's letter didn't get destroyed when they blew up the raft! Now, that really bugs me! |

Despite all the handwringing I'd read, the wheel ended up not being that bad at all -- cheesy, but also fit with the idea that there's older tech that
Ben is aware of (Smoke Monster, for example). And moving the island is no weirder than any other idea brought up -- and executed within the parameters of the
rules they've already established.

yourself the trouble and stop watching, because I'd venture as to say shit will get weirder from here on out.

>>According to my sources, our Claire-bear (Emilie de Ravin) will not be a regular in season five, but rather she will be on a "holding
contract." However, after her sojourn in the underworld, or wherever she is, she will return to us for season six.

GodIsAnAtheist wrote: its not that moving the island or some kind of bizarre process to do it is too weird and implausible -- after all, this
show -- its that 1. a big donkey wheel in an ice cave seems like a silly way to do it, and more importantly, 2. they way they executed it, with sparkly
80s-style special effects akin to a movie where a little girl magically becomes a princess, combined with ben's "i think i can!" face, was kind
of a groaner.

I guess you are just a harder-to-please individual. Everyone else I've talked to about it (not just on Sucks, obviously) thought it was absolutely
fascinating.
In fact, if there WERE any gripes, none of them were about the donkey wheel or the island moving. |

A day later and I still can't get over how incredible that finale was.
Unlike Survivor, I never have a clue about spoilers. I've never been able to follow spoilers for LOST. Therefore, every microscopic second of last night's show was a surprise. LOL-maybe Paulo and his floozy chick come back and haunt the people on the island. Seriously, I was wondering if something could happen and the DI folks haunt the island inhabitants. Far-fetched, I know. One thing seems obvious to me. The island's "leaders" have failed one after another. All have been deemed "chosen ones". Ben was there for a long time but clearly failed. Locke replaced him and obviously failed. Jack has to return to be the next in line. Or, perhaps while Locke has been gone, Sawyer was the one. Whatever the case, it seems they are looking for the one TRUE leader that will keep the island safe. It was possibly once Jacob. Now, it has to be a descendent of Jacob. Kinda ironic how they keep showing Christian Shepherd. He's probably the real Jacob. Jack can't be the chosen one BUT Jack can return the true chosen one to the island. That chosen one meant to lead the people and who was born on the island is Aaron. |

Ben was there for a long time but clearly failed.Oh, no. Ben hasn't failed. Far from it. He's put Locke exactly where he wants him. Ben has a plan. |

Ha. I read the spoilers and enjoyed the finale more than I thought I would.
But that wasn't a donkey wheel. |
