I only got to watch the first half of the show. I hated the Jesus duo.. I don't like it when comedians play in character all the time. I really liked the
Korean girl. Did she make it past her round?

Yes, the Korean girl made it to the Vegas round.

I usually loathe impressionists (seeing Dante going so far last year was like chewing tinfoil) but I like that tattooed one. Doesn't hurt that he's
attractive, either.
Alien dude was interesting. Just too far out there for the judges, and for such a short audition. I was also disappointed that the gay guy with the Project Runway joke didn't advance to the next round. The overlapping twins got old reaaaal fast. |

The super-happy fat guy should have gotten through, dammit! I'm already annoyed with these choices.
There's this weird bias for people who would be "good tv" rather than funny---- in some strange, convoluted way those two qualities aren't always synonymous. Like, they'll pick the person because of their backstory over their talent. The Asian chick was just so average, and her delivery was slightly off, and not on purpose. The cute tattooed impressionist was good. Did anyone recognize that Christina girl (whose act drew heavily on the faults of vegans) from some MTV reality show? I swear she was on the Real World or Road Rules like 100 years ago. I don't know why, but I'll tune in for a couple more weeks, at least. The San Francisco auditions I attended air in two weeks. I noticed on TV it looks like they're handing out only 3 passes, but they gave out at least 7 during our taping, so perhaps they're just editing out people who don't make it past the next round. |

Premiere was good but there was a lot of filler. I like the Korean chick and tattooed impressionist the most probably. God's Pottery was amusing but I
mean, it's been done before.
No love for that alien guy? Total gimmick to get on TV as a bad audition for sure, but I lost it when Kathy Najimy was like, "I'm sorry, I just don't want you to come to my house and kill me" and he goes, "Oh, I'll be there." They gave out five passes in New York and three in Tempe--do they decide based on the number of people who make it to the showcase in each city or go by merit or like kitty said, just edit out some of the ones who don't make it past the next round? This is my first LCS season so I have no clue. |

I think they show every ticket-receiver. I suspect that Tempe gets fewer choices because the talent pool is going to be much smaller than NYC's, even
though people do travel far to audition.

Yes, I recognized her too! I couldn't remember where I knew her from for the first half of the show and then I remembered her with much shorter hair. The judges this time, while not perfect, are so much better than the last couple seasons's judges. I'll take Richard Belzer's opinion over Ant's any day of the week. |

Oh wow, that was Christina from Road Rules Australia, the best season of the show ever. I don't know how she is as a comedian (didn't catch the last
half; I might catch it tonight), but she was one of those people that was very snarky/sarcastic.

I thought he died years ago." I too found the Korean girl very likeable. |

The Korean girl is likable. Which is why we can't afford her to get to the finals or America will just let her coast to victory. I like her too, but her
inexperience shows, and will probably run dry soon.

I'm so glad they've got different people judging this year. And particularly no Ant! The beautiful Alicia Minshew who plays Kendall Hart on All My
Children was shown in the audience at the New York show. I wish they would let us know ahead of time how many tickets will be given out. I don't think
God's Pottery or Stone and Stone are all that funny. Loved Marcus's impressions, he cracked me up. Also think Adam Hunter is overrated. So far,
probably Louis Ramey is the best, but we will see in weeks to come.

There's an article in today's paper about the judges not really getting to choose who gets a ticket. Same shit, different year. |

kitty white wrote:I feel the same way, I thought the lil fat guy was funny. But, Of course yet again, they are picking a bunch of crappy ass people who are not funny. Those God's pottery idiots need to die soon. They suck. I can't even believe they picked them. And as for the older/already known comics they pick every season now, That kinda sucks.. Half the people they choose have had comedy central specials already. The Alien guy owned. He was funny as they character. And as others have said, they kept the monkey guy last year, but wouldn't even give the Alien a chance? Wtf? I think after the audition rounds are over, I won't be watching the regular episodes. I do like the Twins, But I doubt they will go very far. |

I don't know if maybe TPTB have some sort of hard on for Flight of the Conchords, but against reason they seem to favor the musical acts this year.
Possible spoilerish stuff about SF round below.

A lot of these auditioners getting through suck. I like the one girl who is somewhat dry and talks about her dysfunctional family. Dos Spanish Flies suck . .
. a lot.
Jackie Kashion is back. I love her. She was on before. I have a Comedy Central Presents special with her. I love her. She talks about her dad being a salesman and then vagina t-shirts.

Looks like it's just you and me watching this, hossc. I liked Jackie, Erin, and Ruby was good. The only criticism I have for Jackie is that the war
reenactment joke was from her stand-up years ago. I hope she has new material that she just didn't use for this round, though I still found the shit
funny.
ETA: Holy shit, both Erin and Jackie made it! Yay!!!
