I don't think Cook should try to go mainstream rock like Daughtry did. He should go the Pop/Rock route and make the male equivalent of Breakaway.

They should strive to make Archie's CD very Jonas Brothers/Jesse McCartney mixed with some ballads

It's a shame Archuleta couldn't do this when he was 18, on his own terms and once he had matured more.Even if he was 18, I'm not sure he'd be allowed to make an album on his own terms. Once they're signed up to these labels, they seem to be forced into pabulum, and if they try to do what they want, then the label isn't pleased. They had too many successful people after AI5. I think they usually just want one or two successful people to reinforce the idea that you have to win in order to become a success. I think David Cook will have one or two hit singles, respectable radio play, and will go gold, maybe platinum. David Archuleta will have one moderately successful single, average to below average sales, and then maybe go more into the inspirational circuit. Both Davids were so boxed in by the characters created for them on AI, they may struggle to carve out a musical identity of their own. After last season, and what's happened to most of their careers, I'm not going to speculate on the people who didn't make F2.

Where does Archuleta even fit in? His young base likes that new-fangled hip-hop, but he made a total ass out of himself when he tried it on the show. He can
sing a bunch of ballads and try and go for a frau-hit like Clay did, but I don't know... he didn't seem to have a noticable frau base like Clay did.
Anything John Mayer-ish would seem contrived and out of left field. In fact, the only genre I can imagine him in is Christian Contemporary, and those
evangelical type don't like the Mormons.

Archie can be like that former Amish, Paul Walker. Ditch the religion and star in movies where he invariably appears half-naked and flashes his rear end.
<3 Bad ex-religious boys. |

So he is going to be mainstream pop. No, he isn't, because he can't sing an upbeat song to save his life. Seriously. |

Don't worry, FuggU. These guys said that Jordin Sparks wouldn't fit in the current pop scene. Well, she's actually outsold Taylor, imagine that!
They also said that Carrie Underwood would flop. Oops.
David Cook has better pray that his fans' hot air and viciousness towards other contestants translate to a fervency in buying his albums. He is neither more nor less marketable than David Archuleta, in fact, some of David Cook's best performances on this season are not rock. His fans should worry about his marketability since he can either go Daughtry's way or Taylor Hick's way, instead of crowing so much about Archie's supposed lack of longevity in career. |

You mean ballads like James Morrison, One Republic, James Blunt, Josh Groban, and Lifehouse? No, those artists sing POP BALLADS. Archuleta sings songs like "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me," NOT anything that people want to listen to today. |

Sigh. Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me is not a pop ballad?
May I remind you guys that in the hands of the right (current, bestselling) artist, a cover version of an old song can give it a new breath of life? Come on, guys. I don't care if you guys want to talk shit about Archie, but try not to say things like DLTSGDOM being not a pop ballad. |

i am going to guess Archuleta's first album will outsell Cook's. never under estimate the power of hormonal preteen females

You mean like ZZ Tops "Sharp Dressed Man". As I recall "Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me" was PICKED by Clive Davis...and at the end of that performance that old fossil Clive Davis, who NEVER got up during any other time of that show, got is his old rickety ass out of his chair with the rest the 'suits' from the record company and gave Archie a standing ovation...you mean THAT SONG... |

i am going to guess Archuleta's first album will outsell Cook's. never under estimate the power of hormonal preteen femalesI can't see this happening, to be honest. Chris Daughtry is an anomaly - hell, the entire S5 is an anomaly. The winner always get the bigger publicity machine and promotional push behind him, so David Cook has that battle won halfway already. |

If David would speak more openly about his autism, he could sell an album to 1 out of every 150 kids in America!

Wow, I never battled Archtards, and know I know why; you're all fucking insane.
All I'll say is good luck hearing him on mainstream radio, just like you heard Taylor Hicks there. |

Unlike the other singers, Archie is only 17. Most of the other singers from AI, except Jordin, are in the twentys. Cook is 25. EIGHT years older. So we will
see.
