The Roseambo episode was one of my favorites. Another was the one where Dan's psychotic mother came to visit, and was trying to kill Dan. And the episodes with Darlene and David's wedding and baby.So most of your favorites are out of the last season, season 9. I'm with you that a lot of season 9 was really funny for me. I enjoy season 3-9 the best. One and two are good but you can tell the slight tug of war going on between what Roseanne wanted and what she was given. After season 2, she got whatever she wanted. Season 9 gets really preachy...but not in an overthetop way so I appreciate it. Plus, the strongggggg maternal themes are wonderful. Dan effectively being written off of the show and of course the aforementioned Roseambo episode (despite being...pretty bad) had really good feminist themes that I appreciate. I don't think a woman has come on TV since her and really owned herself. Maybe so? Up for argument? :) I doubt it since no one ever engages me on here but it would be a neat thing to look at. eta: Seriously, invest in the DVDs. You may just wanna wait for the complete series which inevitably will be out. I have 1-8 and will get 9 asap. I don't bother with any cable tv anymore since any of the old shows that I want to watch? I own :P |

I went looking on you tube to see if I could find Darlene's wedding episode (to no avail) and found instead the bloopers from the first season. Most of
them (and they're aren't very many) are the typical stumble over words but there's one where the phone is ringing and Darlene comes screaming into
the room yelling "I'll get it" at the same time Rosanne goes to grab the phone off the wall and the 3 foot tall, 60 pound Darlene completely
flattens Rosanne with a hip check. It is one of the most hilarious things I've seen in years. I watched it time and time again and split my gut each
time. They should've left it in the show. Man, it was funny.
I also managed to find the episode where Darlene tells everyone she's pregnant and that was a good one, too. David's reaction was priceless. "Couldn't we just start with a dog?" "It doesn't have to be a big dog...." Another great depiction of real family life. |

I'm watching the CW reruns everyday. I had quit watching by season 9, but I had seen the final episode. Knowing that this whole last season was fiction from writer Roseanne makes the shows very poignant. I see a reflection of R's reaction to the Tom Arnold debacle in the storyline of Dan falling in love with his mother's nurse. I haven't had a heart attack, but I had bypass surgery, and I can empathizewith Dan "going crazy". The surgery went well and I healed quickly,
physically, but I was depressed and distracted for years afterward.

Were Dan's parents ever on the show? In the episode the other night the old football team got together and there was a box of memorabilia which included a
pair of "Roseanne's" underwear supposedly from their first date. It turned out they were Dan's mom's pants blah, blah but that got me to
wondering if we ever got to see Dan's folks.
(And in case you didn't remember the facts of the matter, Dan and Roseanne didn't have sex until their second date. Way to hold out there, Rosie!) |

Dans dad married Crystal. He was on there quite a bit, not sure about his mom. I can't remember seeing her, but she was rather crazy.

Dan's mother was played by Ann Wedgeworth, and then Debbie Reynolds. I think Debbie Reynolds played his mom for the episode that had her being released
from a mental hospital before she's ready.

Yeah, in the very early seasons, Dan's mom showed up once. She was in a new relationship. It may have been a Thanksgiving or other holiday episode.
Debbie Reynolds played his mom in one of the final episodes. That was the one where she was all types of crazy.
I got season 1 on DVD a few weeks ago. It makes me want to run out and get them all. |

I forgot all about that. Crystal was a really prominent character until then. I wonder what ever happened to her. And as for the mom, the station I watch the reruns on only went up to that episode with the crazy mom and then reverted back to about season 6. (Whatever season it was that the Becky's changed.) Dan had an affair when he was in California looking after his mom, right? And then she followed him back to Illinois. The mom, that is. I never have seen the actual end of the series. Thanks for filling in the blanks, everyone. |

The series finale was great! One of the best from any show.

One of my favorite episodes has John Goodman playing a grownup DJ going to see a psychiatrist. Laurie Metcalf, looking a lot like Estelle Parsons (Bev) plays
an older aunt Jackie and DJ keeps saying "They say she's the same, but she's not the same" about the chainging Beckys.

Haha yeah, the different beckys were a great joke...I liked the first one where the original Becky came back and everyone kept saying "where the hell have
you been???????" "It seems like you've been gone for like 2 years!!!!"

roseanne...nana mary. | ||

i always liked when they had the thanksgiving episodes, or just whenever nana mary came to visit...shelley winters was fantastic as rosey and jackie's
grandmother. don't you wish everyone had a grandmother like nana mary. And then we find out that nana mary was a slut, that she gave birth to estelle when
she was quite young.
but i think everyones favorite episode is still the one where rosey finds pot in the basement , thought it was david's, but dan reminded her it was in fact her pot that she hid some 20 years earlier.. the three of them ( dan, rosey, jackie) in the bathroom, smoking the pot, and jackie ( the ex cop)starts freaking out in the bathtub...the work of laurie metcalf at her comedic geniusness. |

So we watch this show on CMT and sure enough, once Darlene's baby comes home from the hospital the station reverts back to point where Dan has the bike
shop and things are not going well. I have yet to see the final episode of this amazing show. How many episodes are there from the time the baby comes home
until Roseanne tells the truth and explains why she did what she did?

The episode where the baby comes home is the finale. It's a two-parter. It's at the end of that episode when they're all in the kitchen that
Roseanne explains the entire series is her life story, but with some things changed.

I've always wanted to see the episode where Roseanne fights the terrorists. I saw half of it once on TBS or something, but I've never seen the whole
thing.
