I'll do this one, mainly because I'm not swayed by what everyone else tells me I'm supposed to like, so its different than everyone else. lol

Winners:

1. Ruben: He's a singer more than a celeb, and in that way, he transcends the show. He'll be around for years just makin' good music. Nothing wrong with that!
2. David: Every week, he took the same ol' songs and added his own unique twist to them, whether they were ballads or rock tunes, and did it brilliantly. You had to go back and listen to them twice to realize how really good they were, which is the mark of a truly unique artist. LOVE him!
3. Fantasia: There ain't no one like 'Tasia! All energy and charisma, you can't take your eyes off her when she's performing. Music should be fun.
4. Taylor: My hat's off to the man who brought blues-soul-rock to AI. I admire an artist who sticks to the music that moves them, and in that way, moves others to appreciate it too.
5. Carrie: It took a while for her to grow on me, mainly because I'm not a country fan, BUT she has excellent phrasing, which is unique to her, and she can make a bad song sound good. With her ability to carry those glory notes too, the sky is limit for her. She really blew me away last night.
6. Jordin: She's got a voice that sounds better on radio than live, which is helping her album stay afloat and do well. If she keeps getting good songs, she'll be fine.
7. Kelly: Admittedly, I'm biased, so I can't objectively comment. Her fans are so gawd-dammed awful, they've thoroughly convinced me their Idol must suck too. To me, Kelly is the epitome of mediocrity manufactured into a pop-tart by Clive, and hyped to the high heavens by the machine; Then she spit in their face, put out an album of mediocre songs, and now she's got nowhere to go but back into the "pop-tart" stable or toward hanging on Reba's coattails. Sorry! jmo! When she comes on the radio, I stop listening to that station. lol. Blech!


Runners-up:
1: Justin: Well, of course, just look at my sn. lol. Justin is the whole package to me, what AI should have been about from day one. Fabulous, soulful, SUBTLE voice, that is also powerful and passionate. His voice is so good, it takes a couple of listens to realize how REALLY good he is (see comments on Cook above), so of course in our throwaway society, no one has time for that. Too bad, its a shame, because the best artists take a couple of listens to to "get." Like fine wine, you have to learn to appreciate it. But more than that, Justin has natural star charisma, which the others lack, which means he can do it all - TV, music, movies, innovative things like an independent jazz cd. Sky's the limit for Justin in the long run.
2. Clay: You know, the boy can sang, but its all about perfect singing, no passion. He does have a good sense of who he is (yes, he's a nerd!), and shapes his career around that (perfect part for him in Spamalot). So all that smartness, makes him #2 runner up for me.
3. Bo: Another musician who has stuck with his roots, southern rock, before and after giving in for that 1st album to Clive. But I don't fault him for that because he was so sick, and he probably just went along with the program at that point. To his credit, he emerged stronger after being dropped by RCA, and went back to his authentic self. You go Bo!
4. David: So young that he hasn't developed his own image yet, but he's still got that incredible voice. It'll be interesting to see what he does with it now.
5. Diana DeGarmo: I give her kudos for getting all those parts on Broadway after the show, and continuing to try to find her niche. Nice voice, now she needs some style.
6. Blake: Mr . Beat-box at least tried to stay true to his own musical vision while on the show, I'll give him that. Nothing I hate more than cookie-cutter musicians! And Blake avoided that in spades.
7. Katherine McPhee: Pretty girl, probably the prettiest girl on the show ever. I can't remember what she sings like though. Run of the mill singer, pretty girl, she'll be fine.
