SEASON 5: THAILAND
-------------------------- After being ready to quit for about the 10th time Season 5 came along. The source who was sure of the Vee win had some new information from the set of Survivor:Thailand, (which was a very difficult living experience for the crew). Carey Scheuler had been selected for the show. The cell phone numbers of the crew were tracked down, and a winged monkey called Thailand from the "airport" saying that Carey's luggage was left behind and they needed an address to sent it to. Awkwaaaaaaard. Maybe she got kicked off, or maybe she was an alternate. Either way, the mistake I made was reporting that she was on the show before the taping even began. I was predicting the future, not reporting confirmed happenings. Meanwhile, I decided to code a pick em game for my website, which meant that I was firmly back, deeply entrenched in the Survivor online mafia. I wanted it to be different and also reward any true spoilers by taking into account an early bird bonus (theoretically, first in the know would win, rather than ten thousand lemmings following suit after the weekly secret got out). I continued receiving boot information. One week I guessed like I knew when I really didn't (Rob boot) but got it right. I don't really remember much of this season, but looking at the page with the contestants brings one flashback. Thom Kha Guy posted the Dude? Erin. Dude!!! thread. http://survivorsucks.yuku.com/topic/9949 I was amused, so posted a link to it from SurvivorNews.net. Shortly thereafter I received a blistering e-mail from an infamous and furious CBS spokeswoman (cc'd to an infamous spokesman), asking (1) how I could be so mean posting that "e-mail threat" (she meant thread), and (2) insisting that Erin is in fact a woman. After I sheepishly asked what e-mail "threat" she was talking about, the spokesman responded, asking how I am enjoying Survivor: Thailand. The executive row at the eye network seemed to have as much drama as the VO moderator Yahoo group chats I got dragged into. Talk about a bizarro experience. It was not the first or the last.

Dude Erin Dude was originally posted in Spoilers, and I moved it to Sucks where it became the legend it is today. I wonder how different a reaction we might
have gotten from them had it remained in the forum.
I sure wish I still had the Snickers photos. That was among my only exclusive scoops and it fizzled. |

Now that I went back and read some of the posts I remember it was Chaos who had the photos first and I got hold of them later, it's just that he was
sitting on them while I was kind enough to feed the descriptions to Acme. As I recall based on that spoiler everyone decided Stephanie was safe ep5. That was
also around the time I put together the "gold statues and flames at TC show the boot order" theory. I was on fire in Thailand. But I did sniff out
the fake merge.

Who are these sources? I thought coming clean would have meant naming names and specifics.
Am i just to assume that all spoiling info always came from crew members which is what everyone always widely believed anyway? I don't want to pick nits, but these reveals are really nothing more than a self trip down memory lane. |
