^ Not to mention to know the questions to the answer and always go first for the $1200 answers on Double Jeopardy where the Daily Doubles always lurk.

I hear you, but when *I* know the questions to most of the answers, it ain't exactly a tough show. Ken Jen, she ain't. |

I haven't seen Larissa yet...I've missed Jeopardy all week since my daughters haven't cooperated with getting their room cleaned to watch Dora
(which coincides with Mommy's Jeopardy viewing). I can't wait to see the bitch in action!
I've got my audition Sunday morning...and I'm having the hardest time putting my anecdotes on the card. I didn't realize my life was so nice and simple...nothing fun or exciting. Is it interesting if I know all the words to We Didn't Start the Fire???? Ha! |

So I'm well aware that Milwaukee is not a state. And SL, I was pretty sure it was Kansas for Jericho, but at that point the game was still close and I
didn't want to take a chance on a $1000 question.
Brandon and I had almost every question that Larissa rang in on, but she was insane on the buzzer. You have (according to the production people) 1/4 of a second to ring in, if everyone rings in together (which happens most of the time) the buzzer resets after another 1/4 second, so it's really all about the reflexes. And the girl isn't afraid to go big on the double jeopardy's. I first tried out about 20 something years ago, pre on-line, and made it into the contestant pool, but never got called. They qualify about twice as many contestants as they ever use, so even if you make it thru the audition process, you still have only a 50/50 chance of getting on TV. I tried out on line in May 2006 and got called in January. Flew to LA (they don't pay), rode the nerd bus to the studio and taped in February. And we are talking some SERIOUS nerds. Didn't go with high expectations, I just wanted to do it, and not be an empty space for Final Jeopardy. It really was interesting, the production people are awesome, and even apoligized to me after the game because there were some nasty categories. I mean come on, Physicists, Peruvian Food and Drink, f***ing Opera!!! Where were my Potent Potables and Famous Shoe Designers - I would have killed on those!!! Larissa is pretty much in the same category as Archuleta. No social interaction what so ever with any of the other contestants. No eye contact, very awkward, during the rehearsals all we heard was "we need more energy, Larissa." Everybody has to have 5 anecdotes to talk to Alex about - they told her they couldn't use any of hers. The armadillo story they had to make it sound like she collected them, when the actual story was that her husband bought her one. They asked her to say she had 20 and apparently she cut it down to 10. Her husband was a contestant in the Ken Jennings days and got beat (obviously) and her sister auditioned too and is supposed to be on some time this year. No sour grapes though, she knows her stuff and she knows how to play the game. All in all it was an amazing experience and I'm glad I finally got to do it. Good luck RW and you're right, the freakin questionnaire was the hardest part! |

Thanks for the insight, Ruth! I always wondered why the contestants would click-click-click the buzzer. It always looked strange, but now I get it. I could tell that against any other 'usual' contestants you would have won. I was skeptical about her armadillo story. For one, it wasn't even about her. It was her husband who collects them, Alex said. I was thinking "Is she that lame that the only thing she has to talk about is her husband's hobby?" |

Can you spoil whether or not she loses within the timeframe you know about? I stopped watching the show a little while ago and I'd only pick it up again if
I knew she was making a serious run.

You should use your ORG stories :) |

You have to leave as soon as your taping is done so I'm not sure how long she goes. From the # of contestants on the web page for this week though, it
pretty certain she wins at least 2 more games.

^ I missed Larissa's 1st showing which is rare since I try to watch Jeopardy daily but I caught her last night and she's really good and damn is she
soft spoken.
If only 50% of those that make it through the audition process actually make it on TV, then it makes me wonder why the people behind the show that cast for it would choose Larissa. I would think they'd want a good combo of personality and knowledge..and I can't see Larissa acting any differently in the audition rounds. Countdown til Larissa pwnage tonight |

I think a lot of it has to do with demographics - they have far more men than women try out (at my audition, both times about 80/20) and they try to get so
many younger women, middle aged, older (cough, cough), etc. Depends on how many people they use in the 18 months you're eligible. If they have a bunch of
people who go 5 or more games, they're not going to get to everybody in the pool. Also, when they call you to be on the show you only get one shot. You
can't say you're unavailable - they will not reschedule. And once they call you, if you say no, you have to go thru the whole process again. Also
from watching the show over many many years, I'd have to say unless you're really freaky - they'll put you on. They aren't looking for the
typical "game show" personality, more people who can actually play.
I hope Larissa stays around for a while - I'd love her to get into Ken Jennings territory - would make my losing easier to explain |

Good luck Ralphie! <3 Make sure you give us a shout-out if you make it. ;)
Do they really need to have a Shakespeare category pretty much every other day? Sometimes I'm lucky enough to guess the early ones (and whenever they do Romeo and Juliet it's obvious) but that's the one frequent category that always kills me. I'm not great at geography either but it doesn't pop up as much. I'm loving the Larissa domination but both days she annoyed me with Final Jeopardy--she knows she can get a huge payday and wagers low to ensure a win, which is fine, but then she looks like she's about to cry when she only adds $3000 to her winnings. |

Larissa is so smart and awkward and quiet and shy. Damn, that's hot. If she wore some horn-rimmed glasses she would be a Goddess.

I don't see Larissa lasting long. One day, she'll wager hugely on a Daily Double and get it wrong. That'll be her demise.

Please make a shoutout for us, Ralph! I can totally see it:
Alex: Now, you say you're a fan of the show "Survivor," but you often go to a forum called... RWfP: "Survivor Sucks." I agree with your assessment of Larissa being hot, barnabusb. She looks like Lisa Loeb except she doesn't have the glasses. |

Close call for Larissa today! I'm finding her to look more like Jenna Fischer as Pam Beesley than Lisa Loeb. |
