If they praised Cook people would say Cook has it in the bag and the results wouldn't be that much of a nail biter. By praising Cook prior to this and now praising Archuleta they make it look like an even playing field and imo it is. Archie or Cook could win but now everyone is less sure thanks to the judges. Now people really will be on the edge of their seats waiting to see who wins and imo Cook can still win it.

By this point in the competition most people have made up their minds, they've seen enough and they're going to vote whichever way they are regardless of what any of the judges say. Throughout most of the competition I do believe they (Simon) are influential but in the end they aren't, especially if Cook does pull out a win. swim = dead.to.me

In the end both David's are TCOs and the Idol machine will sign both. I don't think they care too much which ones takes the title. Also the producers bottom line is the ratings. If throwing someone they praised for weeks under a bus makes things closer and gets people talking and gets them more ratings for the finale they don't give a shit about Cook or Archie's feelings or how things really went down.

Well it doesn't look very crediable that according to the judges, Archie "creamed the night" by winning all three nights, then for Cook to win. If they wanted Cook to win, he would have gotten the winner's praise. Although it will be hilarous if Cook has to sing that winner's single shall he win.

There's only been three times this season where someone's been in red on DI, and every time they've gone home. And even then, there wasn't a gap as big as ten points, which is what Cook has over Archie. I don't see why that wouldn't hold up true now. Maybe if Archuleta fans were the only ones that texted, he'd have a shot. But they aren't. Coupled with the fact that Cook is whopping Archie's ass in phone votes + a nice chunk of text votes, Archie doesn't have a chance. The fact that the gap just keeps getting bigger and bigger is telling.
