Season five was probably the last season where viewers cared deeply about many of the contestants. Claudette was such a genuine person, caring, a good sense of humor, and even though that season had so many fan wars and such stupidity, she was the one person most seemed to respect.
From the first time they showed her in the audience after Elliott sang Moody's Moody for Love, she added something special. I remember that cheesy award they gave her at the finale, and how they let her present Elliott. And even after he left Idol, he was still asked about her.
I'm sure he knows how many people cared about her and I hope that can help him get through this awful time.
Well said James. I remember when she won the cheesy award, then introduced Elliott--that was awesome.
There was something very special about this woman, and the relationship she had with her son. It was refreshingly sweet on a show that is always looking for
manufactured drama and emotion. It was genuine.
