At this point I'm wondering how much of the finger got cut off and whether it was too badly damaged for microsurgery (ie. falls in the frying pan, blender,
stove top, oven, deep fryer, etc.)

Well, in the previews (and I realize they wildly exaggerate in the previews), immediately after they talked about the tip of the finger being cut off, they
showed some pancetta frying.
