Just my two cents. I've been following Edgic since it first came out.

Even though Natalie didn't come into her own editing wise until the final 4 episodes, I would give her an OTTN rating. The invs damn her edgically, but
when it comes to character, she was a raving villain cartoon in her final presence. Casual viewers in my office are all talking about that 'bitch'
Natalie and how she hates men. She had an OTTN effect on the viewers, in my opinion. An odd edit, for sure. Reminds me of Bruce in the Aras season, and
Lydia in Steph's second season. Many INVS, and a lot of character.
Just my two cents. I've been following Edgic since it first came out. |

Here are my overal season ratings. Some interesting patterns:
1) 5 of 6 CPs went to the Favs. Parvati finishing with 7/8 CP episodes makes her CP overall. Eliza being CP in every episodes she went to TC plus ep.4 makes her CP too. 2) Only 4 players were UTR in a 20 player season, which shows pretty democratic editing. 3) 6 or 7 Fans had tone, but only 1 or 2 Faves. Maybe that's because the Fans were presented in a more one-dimnsional way. Maybe it's because the Faves were all half-decent social players. Parvati - CP Amanda - MOR Cirie - CP Natalie - UTRN Erik - MORP Alexis - UTR James - MOR Jason - MOR Ozzy - MORN Eliza - CP Ami - MOR Tracy - CPP Kathy - OTT Chet - MORN Jonathan - CP Joel - OTTN Mikey - MORN Yau-Man - UTRP Mary - UTR Fairplay - CP For tone, the season averages are a good guide as to who belongs in the P. Neu, and N range. I made exceptions only for Ozzy, because he finished negative with 3 N episodes post-switch, and for Kathy the quitter because I don't entirely agree with her ratings. Season Tone Averages (From most positive to least) (NN=-2, N=-1, neutral=0, P=1, PP=2) P Range 0.371Tracy Hughes-Wolf 0.329Yau-Man Chan 0.324Kathleen Sleckman 0.301Erik Reichenbach Neu Range 0.209Eliza Orlins 0.096Ami Cusack 0.054Mary Sartain 0.041Jonathan Penner 0.023Alexis Jones 0.000Johnny Fairplay -0.004James Clement -0.024Amanda Kimmel -0.069Ozzy Lusth -0.070Jason Siska -0.072Cirie Fields -0.144Parvati Shallow N Range -0.170Natalie Bolton -0.289Joel Anderson -0.494Mikey Bortone -0.525Chet Welch Watchdog Report for the season on Parvati's tone - CP Neu. Parvati is definitely Neu (not N). Notice she is only .07 below Cirie and some of the N voting for her was questionable. She officialy has 2 N and 1 P episodes, and voting had her mildly N in a couple other episodes around the merge and mildly P in the opening and final episodes. So her tone pretty much balances out. I believe the editors tried to give Parv a decent edit with balanced tone and make her CP Neu, because there was a lot of prejudice against her going in. Though she was MORP in Cook Islands, that was obscured by the generally N edit of her Raro friends and strongly P edit of the Aitu 4. The fact that her story involved betraying top faves Ozzy and James and winning out over their proxy Amanda and top fave Cirie meant that a certain amont of Complexity and Positivity had to go into her edit. Otherwise they'd have a Vee or Jenna situation with fans not just surprised or slightly disappointed by the winner, but going "what the hell, this is an outrage!" Parvati's edit was balanced enough to avoid this. Like every winner from S7-S14, she avoided an overall N. Many viewers disliked Parv for booting Ozzy and forming the women'a alliance. But these folks typically hate Cirie too. Thus it was James, Ozzy, and Amanda at the top of the vote fior $100,000 - the Couples Alliance Loyalists, with Cirie being snubbed. Editing did side with Parv\Cirie in Ozzy's boot episode (they were Neu and Ozzy was N, though Parv was wrongly voted N by a narrow margin). However, that wasn't enough to undo episodes of Rupertization that Ozzy got in S13. This says nothing about Parv's S16 edit, but is a fact of returning player seasons. Parvati did not get a villian edit. 1) She was not lazy, we saw her climbing a tree to cut down coconuts in the Finale. All the New Airai Faves were praised for their work ethics and skills by the fans in ep.5. 2) She did not trash-talk her allies, and only slammed a couple players who were wisely disliked or edited as idiots. She made fan allies rather than slamming them the way Amanda\Cirie did on New Malakal. She also got virtually no Negative SPV, even from Eliza or Jonathan (who called her a great social player). 3) Her betrayal of Ozzy was justifed as a necessary game move. She spoke well of Ozzy and cried when James left. Rather than being an arrogent mastermind, she was shown worrying about the pickle she was in with multiple alliances. Ultimately she did not betray Alexis or Nat and thus retained their votes, while Amanda and her were loyal to the end. 4) Parvati was presented as strategic, reflective, and there to play the game. When she lost the RC in Ozzy boot episode, she got a confessional about how she'd wished she's got to visit the natives because she's inetrested in other cultures. Hardly a shallow girl.

I go back to the basic question of the point of the season-ending rating. And I must note: there is no right answer. After all, this isn't really
edgic.
In many cases the two will be similar. I too think that Parv will likely be CP in either method. She was somewhat N at times, but the final impression in
the last couple of episodes made her more strategic than mean. OTOH, I think Cirie's overall impression is closer to CPP.

With the jury beginning with Eliza, I believe that the original plan was a F3 with seven jurors. With James' evacuation and Alexis' injury, there might have been some concern that they could not participate on the jury to the end of the game, so the F3 was changed to a F2. There is also the possibility that the producers wanted to "blindside" the remaining players by a last-minute "twist" of a F2. Who knows ? Unduli said : I believe the theory behind it is that they had all the challenges built and wanted to use them all instead of wasting the loads of money it takes to build them. So the F5 IC was originally the F6 IC, the F4 originally F5 and so forth. The final challenges were pretty simple (ie, there was no giant mazes like the Vanuatu F4 IC), so I don't think that was the reasoning. And they have dropped/changed challenges in prior seasons, so I don't think that they would have a problem with dropping a simple challenge this season. |

I think final impressions should be given some weight, especially in borderline cases. Thus the N for Ozzy, the OTTN for Joel, and the CP Neu for Parvati.
However, one episode does not an edit make. Natalie was ruled out for having a long string of UTR\INV epiodes, and only went OTTN once (and the OTT was due to colorful confessionals not actions). I'm not getting the P for Amanda She started as Parv and Ozzy's shadow. She bitched about the fans on New Malakal and about Alexis\Nat at the merge. Ozzy was N which undermines any "revenge Ozzy against the betrayer" plot. She had one heroic episode flinding the idol. She was in the thick of deceiving and manipulating Erik. At the end, she got into a stupid fight with Cirie, drew a lot of negative SPV from the jury, and screwed up her jury performance just like last time. The finale gave to lie to all the BS about "can't go up against Amanda, she's too likeable." That was all editing spin. The truth is that Eliza and Natalie really disliked her personality.

Final Rankings:
Fairplay - CPM Mary - UTR Yau-Man - UTRP Mikey - MORN Joel - CPN (It's either than or an MORN) Jonathan - OTTM Chet - MORM (But I could understand an OTTM, MORN, or OTTN) Kathy - OTTP Tracy - CPP Ami - MORP Eliza - CP Ozzy - MORN Jason - MORM James - MOR Alexis - UTR Erik - OTTP Natalie - UTRN Cirie - CPM Amanda - MORM (Her edit was all over the place) Parvati - CPN (She was definitely N, craig, because whether you like her or not, the story was that Parvati pissed people off and she couldn't possibly win in the finals) |

After two CPN winners in a row, I think we're probably due for a P winner next season.

Definitely, the overall impression is more realistic than an aggregate rating. If this is true, then why is Ozzy not getting OTTNs rather than the dull MORNs ? |

'cause OTTNs usually go to people the audience absolutely hates, and given that Ozzy still got into the top 3 for the 100k, I doubt the audience really
hated him.

Ozzy's edit was a similar situation to S11 Steph. A fan favorite who the editors had to trash for the sake of the bigger picture, and to make the winner
look better.
They went a lot easier on Ozzy than they did on Steph, though. Just think how different Ozzy would have been edited if Amanda won the jury vote. He would have gotten a Rupert edit (and they would have left out Parvati's confessionals about how she couldn't beat Ozzy or James in a jury vote). It's fascinating to look back on the season and see how different the story might have been if one or two votes had gone a different way.
