All of the idols have mixed fanbases. To single out Clay is patently unfair. He has fans of all ages and sizes just like all of the others that are also made fun of for the same thing. Archie's fans are as dominantly older female as Cookie's are. Same with Chris Daughtry, Kelly, Blake, Taylor, Constantine etc etc etc. Who do you think dominates the concert audiences for Bon Jovi, Josh Groban, Rob Thomas, Maroon5 and Michael Buble? You guessed it, older females. The tweentards follow the Disney crowd. Mylie Cirus and The Jonas Brothers. They don't like Cookie or Archie because Cookie is too old and not hot and Archie is not cool, he's the new Baby Manilow. You're all rabid fantards for your own favorite and I'm gonna bet that most of you are over 30 so STFU.

The sociologist in me agrees with you... that our ideals are socially constructed. Sociologically speaking, there is a social conditioning that we are responsible for. Our culture has a clear cut idea of what's masculine, as well as what the roles of each sex are supposed to be. I do not think everyone has a mixed fanbase. I think everyone has a few fans from different demographics but I think a lot of fanbases tend to be made of mostly people from 1 or 2 demographics. DA is smart to trot out Imagine again. DC is smart to do a new song instead, assuming he doesn't bomb it. If the voting period is extended, it is going to help DA (see rabid fanbase above)--although it may start to get past their bedtimes. KICK THE PUPPY!
