SURVIVOR 4: MARQUESAS

This is starting to tax my memory (which honestly has little to do with my consumption of 75% of a bottle of red wine tonight while writing this), but I'll try. So I spoiled a couple of contestant names. Some people spoiled Marquesas tatoo symbols, and obsessive shit like that. I got spoilers from DR.

Before the S4 finale I asked for tickets again, and CBS relented. This time everyone was there from every website and board you can imagine. I met a lot of people from EBT (now ABT, which I was a member of), from Phoenix, from Blows, etc. And I took along my friend, DR. Like, fuck you, CBS. How ballsy. And how clueless they were.

I forget the timeline of this, but by this time EBT became ABT after a revolution of sorts. The founder of EBT used to be an employee of CBS (again, unknown to them) and later another game show. One day people starting quitting one by one. Eventually I was a member of the ABT, but I wasn't allowed to give them the goods first.

Simultaneously I was in contact with another interesting person who was close to a contestant on the show. For reasons I can't explain, they knew that Vee had won, despite the lock box. DR knew the final two. I had a reputation as someone who doesn't open my mouth unless I'm sure (exceptions well documented). This season the winner would be unequivocally spoiled. People would know that I know, not just that I suspected. They would know the winner before she was declared. Checkmate and F you, CBS.

As DR just mentioned, it was chilly that night. CBS gave the audience a bunch of those shiny metallic blankets that are paper thin but oddly keep you quite warm, because they reflect back at you the radiation your body puts out. They were making a bunch of crackling noise and the CBS winged monkeys demanded them back during the commercials.

On that May 19 night DarkRivers and I sat in the audience next to each other and yelled with excitement (quite unlike our usual emotionally constipated states) after the winner of S4, Vee, was confirmed live by Probst. After the show I snook up on Burnett, while Skydiver took a photo of me. I lost that photo.

The point had been made that the show could be spoiled. I returned home to my hobbit hole. I am pushing my luck with CBS, and this will gain me nothing other than the equivalent of controversial President of the Star Trek fan club. DR, won't keep this up, and obviously a source equivalent or better than DR would never just waltz into my inbox.
