But isn't Geoffrey an old spelling of the name, and not some cutesy new spelling?

Yeah, but to change it from Jeffrey to Geoff?!?
Besides, he was...ackward. |

my down the street neighbors' kids are named Malleigh and Khrystynne, rather than Molly and Christine. so tiresome.
^ So you called child services, right? I had no idea what the names were til I read further and saw them. I thought it was Malleigh like a new form of Kallie and then Kristen and that was after I sounded it all out like a 6 year old. |

I know someone who named their son Cutter.

I don't hate Geoffrey because it's a new spelling, but because it's a pretentious spelling.

I don't have a problem with Geoffrey because it is the original spelling of the name. Back in the day, people were probably in the town center bitching, "My new neighbors spelled their son's name Jeffrey instead of Geoffrey. What douchebags!" |

I work in a church nursery and I am amazed at the names some of these kids have. Right now we have a Delight and a Moncia which is pronounced Monica. The
Moncia one still amazes me because either her mom spells her daughters name wrong every week, or her mom tried for some creative spelling that makes no damn
sense.

Gennifer Flowers might have been the first retarded spelling of a normal name.

I accidentally put my phone # in there incorrectly - oops! they seem like relatively normal folk other than the name thing. they're Ann & Ed....maybe they hated having what they considered to be regularly spelled, thus boring, names? |

There's not a court in the land that would convict you for mercy killing Khortni.

Karin is Swedish for Karen. It's not that uncommon and has been around a long time. It's not retarded.

I have spent my life as Jayne instead of a Jane and truth be told, it's the only reason I don't dislike my name. It's not quite as dull when
it's spelled with a Y.

Growing up, there was another girl with my name, but her parents spelled it all hippie-like, and my parents spelled it the normal way. It would piss me off
when people would try to spell my name like hers.

Jayme or Jaime instead of Jamie.
If you gave your daughter this name--I hate you. Along with all the slutty names you freaks give your daughters. The Brandy Leigh in my kid's class is destined for stripping. |

Jayne is hawt though, Jayne Mansfield?
Being named after a 1950's glamour model can never be wrong! This whole respelling names thing is really just the idiocracy in action, the way this country is going is down down down into the toilet. Where mothers think merely by butchering the spelling of a name they are being incredibly unique and creative. Yes that creativity is going to come in great when a teacher wants to spell your name down and can't even get the first letter right! If you want to be creative, try making a name up, or getting a obscure name from a book. It's almost taking on a Chinese kingdom thing, and what I mean is when China had 15 different languages or something and they had to have a war to settle what the language everyone would speak. Are we going to have to have a war versus the Courtney's and the Cortneighs and the Curtnois and the Coirtney's! Seriously lets call the whole thing off. ONE spelling + a alternate spelling for all first names and leave it at that. |
