Yes, the time has finally come for the epic return of my Stupidest Things Ever Done On Survivor thread! The original got an A+ from threadgrader, and spawned hundreds of pages of great debates, before eventually being locked (I think due to it's size.) I've since gotten many requests to bring it back, so here it is.....

The 86 Stupidest Things Ever Done On Survivor

85. Billy Garcia announces his perceived love connection with Candice at tribal council.

I am not even sure why this is on the list considering it really had nothing to do with the game of survivor. I am fairly certain that at that tribal it was known to all, including Billy, that he was the one to be voted out. Therefore, what he said about Candice was irrelevant. He could of more then likely taken a different approach to statements made at that tribal if there was any doubt as to who was going home. Maybe, since he was one of the first gone, he wanted to do something that would make him memorable during the season so that is why he said what he did. Maybe, since he is a pro wrestler, that statement went along with his "character" and would help support his "role". I really don't know the answer but I am certain that it was not a "stupid" move cause it had nothing to do with the game.


81. Candice Woodcock "mutinies" and voluntarily switches to the Raro tribe.
(I think Candice had at least as good of a chance of making final 2 at Raro as she did at Aitu, so the only thing that's stupid about this is that it potentially makes it more difficult for her to win a jury vote.)

I believe Candice made this move simply because she felt more protected with Raro as opposed to staying with Aitu. I think she thought that if/when Aitu lost the next challenge or two, there would be a good chance that she would be fighting to stay in the game. A big part of her making this move is when Nate was "kidnapped" for a day or two to go from Raro to Aitu beforehand. Nate and her clicked during that time and she learned that Nate was close with myself and Parvati. She was obviously alligned with Parvati and myself since the beginning so being convinced that Nate was on board had made her secure with the strong 4 in Raro. I am also fairly confident that she believed Sundra would mutiny with her, not Jonathan. Her and Sundra had a close bond and them coming over would make it so C was joining a strong alliance (her, N, P and myself), combined with the fact that S was only really close to N in raro made it so S would most likely go along and be on the side of C (being with N) and make our alliance even tighter. As far as her mutiny and your statement regarding jury votes, even though it was drastic, it had a lot less of an effect on potential jury votes then you think. Think of it this way....

Candice made the mutiny: She stayed with Aitu:

N, P and A C against any Aitu in final vote-C gets the vote C against any Aitu in final vote-C gets the vote
N, P, A C vs any raro-chances can only increase with mutiny.... chances can only decrease if C vs Raro
any other Raro chances of getting vote increase due to time spent with Raro chances would more then likely only decrease
Aitu in general would prob still vote C over any other Raro obviously, the same
Becky/Yul vote for each other. if can't, good chance for C to get their vote same as if she did the mutiny...

That graph is a bit jumbled and not going to keep going on with it but I hope you see my point. That is, her mutiny really did not change much as far as the pecking order regarding how everyone would vote no matter who she would of ended up against. One change of votes I do see is with S and if C went against Y . I think she would pick C pre-mutiny but might change to Y if it ended up with those two in the final after her mutiny. Besides that scenario, I don't see much difference in the jury votes. Even if there is a vote or two lost by leaving Aitu, I definitely think there is a better opporutnity to gain those back, and maybe even more, by making that move. LIKE I SAID IN THE BEGINNING, THESE ARE JUST MY OPINIONS WITH A LITTLE MORE INSIGHT THEN THE REST OF YOU. I AM CERTAINLY NOT CLAIMING MY STATEMENTS ARE RIGHT ON AND REFLECT HOW THE OTHER CONTESTANTS WOULD OF RESPONDED IF THESE HYPOTHETICAL SITUATIONS CAME TO FRUITION.... I just want to make that clear once again.

76. Jessica "Flica Flame" Smith loses her tribe's chickens.

This is another one that I don't think should be classified as a "stupid" move. I am sure her strategy was not to let the chickens out so therefore it was a simple mistake, if anything. Besides, do you all have any idea how hard it is to keep those things under control??? lol

73. Yul Kwon announces that part of the reason why he brought Jonathan his hat was to appease him for voting him out.

This was something that Jeff heavily persuaded Yul to admit and was blown out of proportion. Jeff kept asking Y about it to the point where Y pretty much had to give him the answer he wanted. If Y had heavily dodged the questions then his nice guy image would of been revealed and other Aitu members would start to question how comfortable they were with not being aggressive to go against him. I believe it was obvious, even to the Aitu members, that there was not a chance that S or B could beat Y or O in the final vote. Therefore, it was smart for Y to not do or say anything that might be devious that could, in turn, disrupt the acceptance that if he was in the final vote with those two then he would win the vote. I just think at that point he was sitting pretty and the best for him was to give into Probst probing and not try to stir the pot at all... regardless, he won the million so why are we even questioning his moves?

69. New Raro votes out JP over Stephannie at their first tribal council.
(Granted, he was an asshole, and for the girls it gave them the majority, but still, they needed him in the challenges.)

62. The original Aitus throw the Episode 2 immunity challenge so they can vote off one of their own members.
(And I believe it was a combined immunity/reward challenge too.)

This is one of the ones that I am tempted to question. My belief is that you should never purposely get rid of someone in your tribe for the simple reason that if everyone wants him gone then as long as he is around then he will always be a buffer to you getting voted out. I am assuming that they just thought his intake around the tribe was much more then his contribution at camp, they were confident enough that they would not have to go back to tribal cause they would win all challenges once he was gone, etc. I don't know the answer but I am sure they had a good one at the time.

57. The Raros insist on voting for Yul after the merge, even though they know he may have the hidden immunity idol.
(Hence risking the loss of their numbers advantage when they could have just voted off Becky or Sundra, risk free.)

52. Jonathan Penner doesn't make Yul Kwon give him his idol in exchange for flipping sides and voting with Aitu at merge.

This is an interesting one. My guess is that Jonathan believed that the idol was powerful enough that if he declined Yul's offer or made stipulations, Y could easlily pass him up and get one of us to flip. J also may of thought, justifiably, that if he voted with Y and then the power was switched to Aitu, Y would seriously consider J to take to the final vote so he did not want to screw that up by making demands. One other thing that you need to remember and consider is that J was fairly safe for that particular vote but Y was not at all. Maybe J factored in the possibility of one of the other Aitus (O, B or S) flipping to my side at Raro. With that scenario, Yul would be gone if he had given up the idol so maybe he was set on sticking with Y and he knew that Y had much more of a chance of being voted out so he did not want to mess with the HII. I also think, if my memory is correct, becky knew at the time that Y had the idol as well. Maybe J knew that obviously Y and B were close and B would except him back into Aitu as opposed to trying to go after someone else to flip as long as J did it gracefully. Remember, he had recenty did the mutiny against them. Maybe he wanted to be with Yul and them and would take anything he got to get back so he did not try to make demands. I can do maybe's all day but might point is that I am sure he would of made that demand if he thought it was a good move so I am sure he had a legitimate reason for not attempting it. Personnally, I thought it would of been genius if he made that demand, got the HII, and then voted with us to get rid of Yul. How money would he of been sitting in that postion? In our good graces cause he would of voted with us, Yul gone and having the idol? I am sure he had a good reason not to make that demand though, I just don't have an answer for what it was.

48. The Raros vote off Jenny instead of Jonathan.
(They should have realized that Jenny was less likely to flip after the merge.)

(Hence leaving a tribe where he had a powerful ruling alliance to go to a tribe where he had only one strong ally. This action also ruins his chances of winning a jury vote.)

I don't think this was a stupid move at the time for him considering why I believe he made the jump. I think he did this mainly because he thought I had the HII. I think he had been trying to figure out if Y had it for a while but his patience was running thin and he started to have serious doubts that Y had it. He also had spent a lot of time on EI and searched plenty so I think he thought someone had to of found it. Process of elimination made it so that if someone had it and he had doubts about Y having made the find, then if not him then it had to be me or C He also knew that C and I were very close. I think that after she made the jump then in the quick instant he thought that a big reason she made the move was because she knew that I had it. I think that he knew that while him and I did not have the closest relationship in the original tribe, we were at least cordial. That combined with him being close to C and knowing C was close to me and throwing in thoughts of me having the idol, makes the mutiny very justified. You also have to look at the fact that he was probably closest to Y and C over at Aitu. While he may have been closest to them both equally, J probably thought that Y had a higher chance of having more people on his "alliance" list above himself then C would have on her "list". So, essentially, when the closest person to you jumps to the other tribe, it is very tempting to folllow. Like I have been doing all along, I am still speculating but, whatever the reason, I believe J's thought process during the mutiny was probably very well justified.

41. Becky Lee declines Yul's offer of the hidden immunity idol, twice.
(I guess the second time it would have been stupid of her to take it, because it would have hurt Yul's chances of winning, while her own changes of winning would have still been close to zero, but the first time she should have at least taken it until the merge, and then given it back to him.)

Don't think this is stupid either. Only way it could be is if she denied the idol and then was voted out or if she wanted to flip on Y so obviously taken his idol would be beneficial. The first scenario never happened and the second was not a good option (though I do understand the arguement that a move like that would increase her chances of winning the million). I just look at it like this....

This is another graph on the fly by me but hopefully it makes sense. Like I said many times before, these are just my thoughts but my point is that to call this move by B "stupid" considering she was not voted when she didn't take the HII and because she was probablay better off for not taking it and flipping to lose the trust of Y that got you to that point in the game is not really fair if you take into account the big picture of what was going on at the time.

40. Yul Kwon offers the hidden immunity idol to Becky, twice.
(He probably knew she wouldn't accept it, but if he was really considering giving it her then that's pretty damn stupid.)


Maybe he offered it at times when he was confident enough that she would either say no or that he would not need it. I would guess more the former. Why wouldn't Y offer the HII to B at times when he knows she will not take it to potentially gain even more trust? Let's say he is 80% sure she will decline the offer... If the odds are not in his favor and the other 20% happens and she says OK then all he has to do is, later on before tribal, say something along the lines that he overheard talk that they will vote him out so it would be best for them both to change their plans until the next tribal and have Y hold on to it for now. Then at the next tribal, do it all over again and take back the offer if she says yes a second time because "it would be best for us both since you are not a threat this week cause I have been told that they are targeting me." Whichever way he would want to do it, bottom line is that it makes no sense to put this on the list of stupid moves. Problem with this list and other similar posts on this page is that you write your own endings to statements and actions that we make on the show. Of course it would be stupid for Yul to offer the HII twice to B for no good reason but you have no idea if my theories are actually legit. The only way you could make even the slightest suggestion that they were stupid moves by him is if it actually hurt him in the game. Last time I checked, he won the million, B never took the HII and she was completely loyal to him the whole way. In fact, with Y being a a very smart guy, the chances of my scenarios being his legitimate thoughts far outweigh him offering the HII to B just for the hell of it...

26. Sundra Oakley is somehow unable to start a fire during a Final 4 fire-building tiebreaker even after being given an entire packet of matches.

I think they decided that they were not going to practice before tribal. It was decided that it would be a tie vote and B and S would battle it out but it was understood that they would not practice that day beforehand. I am sure they both wanted to win but any sign of being competitive would sway the vote to eliminate the competitive one. Not certain but I think this is how it turned out so that explains why they would not practice fire that day when they realized they would have to make it in the challenge. Of course, that does not explain knowing how to make it up to that point, but, regardless, not being good at making fire is not "stupid".
