It must be exhausting. I prefer to enjoy as much as I can and not dwell on the flaws.

I prefer the over-the-top zaniness of Season 3 onwards but they tried too hard here. Plus, a BIG GAPING PLOTHOLE took me right out of the episode. Are we
really supposed to believe that someone happened to film Ryan, upload the video to YouTube, and then contact the Scranton branch all within like an hour? And
that was the problem with the rest of the episode as well, the show finally blurred the lines and decided to throw whatever set pieces it wanted to into the
frame and bend the rules of the universe they created. Where did all of this extra money for the party come from? Why would Michael have insisted on reading
the cards to Toby when we've seen him try to sidestep things in every other episode? Why would Michael choose Jan when he had a great shot with the HR
woman? Why was the obligatory Creed gag stretched out three times its suitable length?
More importantly, why does it seem that the last three or four years have been the peak of television comedy yet all of these great new shows run out of steam so quickly? |

Shocked and surprised at all the criticism here. I loved the episode. It was almost perfect and a great end to the season. My only quibble and it seems I'm
the only one here who is mentioning it was Creed's paranoid guess at what he did. "Quaaaass...." was a little OTT.
Otherwise all the elements of the show worked and everything paid off hilariously. Jim and Pam's expressions in some of the scenes were priceless. Can't wait till they return next season. |

"Where did all of this extra money for the party come from?"
Didn't Michael kick in his Grandma's birthday money and then Jim gave the money for the fireworks (because he was supposed to propose to Pam and wanted it to be special). The ferris wheel may have been over the top. |

Why would Michael have insisted on reading the cards to Toby when we've seen him try to sidestep things in every other episode? Why would Michael choose Jan when he had a great shot with the HR woman? Someone else covered the money thing. He read the cards because those are what he'd prepared, and he's not terribly good at thinking on his feet. Michael picked Jan because she was a sure thing. He knew he had Jan, he didn't know if he had the HR woman, and he's terrified of being alone. I hope the writers find a way to keep Amy Ryan on the show, and bring Toby back. |

I thoroughly enjoyed the finale. The only thing I didn't like was that Ryan's demise happened too soon. I really wanted another season of Ryan
threatening Jim & Jim getting more aggressive in his sales position to rub it in Ryan's face. They should have held out on Ryan's arrest.
Of course, no episode or finale would be complete without a Jim prank on Dwight. I enjoy them and LOL at every one of them. They never get old, IMO. I laugh at the pranks every time I rewatch past eps, they just never get old to me. Mose and the non-rabid racoon, Creed forgetting his job is quality control, and all the stuff going on in the background greatly embellishes the episode. A nearly perfect season finale, IMO. |

Dwight has always taken everything literally, for him to not do it suddenly would be out of character
Two more great moments: When the YouTube of Ryan comes on, Creeded shouting "It's the Temp! It's the Temp"
And how much wisdom was in this? All my life, I've known that I have loved sex and wanted to have children. I always thought they would go hand in hand, but I guess it is an either or situation. So true for alot of people.

Toby desperately pleading "Does anyone have a camera here?!"I loved that because you know that's the only time he's ever raised his voice in the office during however long he's worked there. The last thing you'd expect out of Toby. |

I thought the episode was the best of the season and so strong the whole entire hour. Every storyline was pitch-perfect and the writers have stacked the deck
for a lot of storylines next season. The more I have sat on it, the more I'm fine with Jim and Pam not getting engaged. In my mind, Jim probably did it
without the fuss of cameras and we'll come back next season with them beginning to plan a wedding.
How are they gonna have Dwight/Angela next season? That last scene was amazing. I'm guessing Angela will stay with Andy publically, but will be screwing Dwight behind closed doors. Angela would be humiliated if it got out what she did with Dwight, so Phyllis has perfect blackmail. I hope Holly/Amy Ryan stays. She fit in so well and had a quality to her that I found refreshing. This show is great at introducing new characters as part of the ensemble. |

Oh God I loved seeing Mose again. Genius character but only in small doses. They're smart by not having him show up a lot. Creed trying, vainly, to
remember what he does killed me.

I agree about wishing to see more of the Ryan downfall than what we saw, but I'm sure next season we'll get to see the full extent of his humiliation.
It really was a brilliant episode. I agree with those who said the Seinfeld comparison is incorrect. What made the Kevin part so awesome is he was acting exactly how he's been since the pilot of the show. He didn't suddenly have slurred speech or anything. Loved Michael and the new HR person, Mose, Phyllis standing up to Angela and then catching them banging. So many gems this episode. September can't come fast enough. And GIAE, just scroll past those posts. It's not worth your time. :) |

Heh. Not gonna happen. Anyway, I loved the finale. My only quibble was Pam's attitude after Jim didn't propose (like Jim would propose after Andy proposed to Angela). It didn't ring true - especially since Pam doesn't like having her relationship with Jim compared to Andy and Angela's). Seemed like sloppy writing and a potential setup for sitcommy shenanigans between Jim and Pam (which I don't care to see). Ryan's firing did happen a little quickly, but Oscar's confessional made it all worthwhile. The line about Ryan's beard being the real problem had me rolling. And the Kevin-is-retarded bit was too brilliant for words - a perfect plot. I'm not sure if the writers felt that they had to give us more of Kevin in previous episodes to set this up perfectly, but it was well worth the wait. |

I'm watching an old episode of Punked where they get DJ Qualls and it occurred to me that he could've been good as Dwight; he kind of has the same look
going on as Mackenzie Crook

PAPAYOKE wrote: I agree somewhat. I'm not sure she had an attitude necessarily, but she was just disappointed. She really thought it was going to happen (and she was
right...it was going to happen). I could feel her sadness. How much longer does she have to wait after Jim's fake proposals? She doesn't even realize
Jim has a ring, but we know he does and bought it a year ago. My problem with that sequence was having Andy propose to Angela just to thwart Jim. The writers
could have written something better as a way to post-pone Jim asking Pam.
