I am not a consistant viewer at all (have seen maybe 10 eps all together since the series began) so can someone tell me why Melinda and her Mother had such a bad relationship?? I know they worked through stuff in the episode but that opening scene when she went to her Mother was confusing as to why they don't get along. That ending w/ 5 and not 6 shadows as they stood on the street corner was a great cliffhanger since I want to know what's going on now! I taped the epsiode actually not thinking I'd be hope to watch it and so I rewound a few times and can't tell who doesn't have one...they don't move at all since it's hard to figure out who is who.

I felt like all the death threats were out of character. Just when I had rationalized Jim's death threat against 'Dad' (made by a paramedic, in a hospital, no less?), Melinda makes one in the park. Sometime during the summer, I'll get around to watching this finale again, so maybe those snippets will seem more in-character the second time around. The Duelling Dads scene was very clever, though, and saved what for me was an otherwise odd finale. We'll have several months to speculate about whose shadow is missing, and why.

If you think about it, Payne sees 6 people but only 5 shadows. If someone other than him were dead, he wouldn't be able to see that person. . So ... the Professor sees the 5 living people, of which he is not one. A couple other things to note: he has a new show on CBS next fall and there was one small hint in the middle of the episode. One of the books he had was "Ghosts Among Us", which was him.

She said Melinda just gave him a sad look and nobody else acknowledged him. She noticed Melinda was holding on to her mother and Jim and Ned were fooling around. She said everyone was touching but him.

Could he have been when he was putting the books back? He'll probably be in the season opener next fall, in order to wrap up his character's end on the show. It's too bad, I liked hin alot. His cynicism was one of the few things I appreciated.

This is my thought as well, at first i was thinking it was melindas mom who died, then after i thought about it for a second i was like oh duh then payne wouldnt see her so it must be him thats dead, so i guess in the season premiere we find out how he died. man i like him to, why not kill off delia or whatever the hell her name is.

The shadows are all standing together, if I remember correctly. If Melinda and her mom were standing on one side of him, and Jim, Delia, and her son were standing on his other side, then wouldn't there be some space in the middle? But there wasn't any space, so maybe it isn't Payne (This is my own wishful thinking). So if I'm right, which I'm probably not, then that means that Payne becomes more intuitive to Melinda's powers.

However...w/ Mohr getting his own show..it's obviously him.

As I said somewhere upthread, I just started really watching this show. Have seen maybe 10 episodes since the show began. If he can't see dead people then he must be dead since he wouldn't see 6 people there, he would only see 5 if he couldn't. Melinda/Melinda's Mother would see 6 but also only 5 shadows.
