I can't remember...since he was never able to sing I blocked him out of my memory.
ETA: He did and so did Katharine McPhee though I don't remember either of them singing it. Go figure. I wonder why they would never clear it for Rickey Smith. He tried to get it cleared more than once.

We can expect the judges to make it ABSOLUTE HELL for Syesha this week. She will probably pick One Rock & Roll Too Many, the song that kept her from being
booted on top 6 night. But besides criticizing her every move, the judges (plus Clive's pick, or Nigel's pick, or Ashley Ferl's pick, or a basket
filled with horrible songs) will also get to stick her with 2 utterly inappropriate songs, to speed her departure. These will probably include things like:
. Tie A Yellow Ribbon 'Round The Old Oak Tree (Tony Orlando & Dawn) . Enough Is Enough (Donna Summer & Barbra Strisand) . Homeward Bound (Simon & Garfunkel--so Simon can get to say "Don't worry. After singing that poorly, you will be.") . Baby Mama (Fantasia Barrino) . Revolution #9 (The Beatles--Paula's critique will be "I didn't hear a whole lot of melody there") . Proud To be An American (Lee Greenwood--or pick an even more redneck country song instead) . Baby What A Big Surprise (Chicago--just in case anybody thought If You leave Me Now was their lamest hit ever) . Sloop John B (The Beach Boys--Randy will then say "That was a poor song choice") . You Keep Me Hanging On (The Supremes) In fact, probably ANYTHING besides opera excerpts or instrumentals will be fair game for their picks. Everybody can have fun picking others. And we WILL be right about two of them... |

Why the hell would they make David Cook try to tackle something originally sung by Steve Perry? It's one thing when he reinteprets non-rock songs or songs
sung by singers with different styles (or lesser voices), but to make him sing a rock song from one of the genre's premier vocalists (say what you will
about JOURNEY's music, Steve Perry was a vocal badass). It's the same thing that Syesha gets criticized for: picking songs that are too big for her
voice, so the final performance comes off as a poor imitation.
