Yar. It seems like a pivotal piece of the franchise, I'll start it up tonight or tomorrow.

Anyone else here think BB9 is pretty much entertain-or-die for Channel 4? Or are there enough no-lifes in the UK that will continue watching if season-after-season ends up being full of wannabe mactors and contrived drama?

1) Different format. Not that they don't like it, they're just not used to it. Same if you show BBUK to the hardcore US fans. They'll all complain about how it lacks strategy, etc...

2) Series overkill. They had just experienced another celebrity edition and all of its ancillary add-ons. Must be even more overwhelming to not just have that on the air but also the media blitzkrieg and Channel 4's endless crossovers with evicted housemates showing up on your screen every other hour.

3) The young kids that comprise the bulk of hardcore BB-ers can't relate to an American cast that skews a bit older.

4) The US show also doesn't have any very lowbrow, gleefully uneducated contestants. Does Natalie really compare to Emma or Brian?

5) UK cast is always more interesting with the possible exception of last summer.

6) BB9 in the UK had no great time-slot and was on a low-watched netlet.

In truth, give them our rules and a few weeks to accept them and it would slightly rejuvenate their show. Would it happen? Never. Channel 4 makes great money leaking "insider info" that Samanda are the winners and causing citizens to bet out of jubilation, making the odds close even tighter.

And god, they really should bring the Power-of-Veto into this show if nothing else. Imagine a last minute reprieve for someone like Nicky. It would also put everyone on their toes as the person with the third most nominations (excluding the veto holder) would end up on the block. They could have the veto competition immediately after nominations, and the ceremony right after the nominations reveal so C4 wouldn't lose their precious phone dime.
