8 months seemed a bit too much considering he's a minor. I guess people forget that the guy that was hurt was an adult who supplied him with the alcohol and didn't wear a seatbelt. John Grazziano is far from innocent in what happened that night. Plus, his family wasn't all that close to him in the last few years. In fact, he pretty much lived with the Bolleas/Hogans for some time, even before joining the service.

Granted, Nick managed to rack up an atrocious driving record and his parents weren't all that helpful, but that's his parents' fault as much as it is his own.

If anything, I kind of wish that instead of jail, Nick was somehow forced to join the military or something. I don't see how sitting in jail is going to help him that much... but he did get lucky that the judge held of on adjudicating the felony. That means that in 5 years, after Nick has finished his probation, finished the jail sentence and such that court will probably just dismiss the charges or knock it down to a juvenile misdemeanor. That kind of sucks, considering it all... but he's still a minor.

It's the civil case that's gonna kills his parents. But in all honesty... if I were a juror on that civil case, I'd have a lot of doubt. I mean, Nick was a minor, in the presence of 3 legal adults who all knew better. I'd say the Bolleas may be somewhat liable for the reckless behavior of their son, but John Grazziano sure contributed to it in a big way.
