Poor Archie. He has not had a real life so far. What an egotistic, megalomaniac, fascist his dad is. (Quick--someone braver than me post that over in th
Archie love threads at the scaries. Mayhem and denials galore!)

Lowering it to 14 will only assure more programmed robots like DavidA with more "nightmare from hell" stage parents like his father. They may be targeting the tweens, but in doing so, I think they will lose some of the coveted 18-35 audience. |

I wish they'd raise Idol's age limit to 18.
Obviously they want the tween fantards voting for mediocre cuties by the millions so they can say they had 50 million votes. |

X Jordin's the only tween i've ever liked on American Idol, period. AI may lose the teenage audience which is definitely their largest audience, who cares. It'll be 10x easier to stomach this craptacular show without contestants like Archie. |

I hate (I mean really, really hate) to admit this, but someone on the scaries had a good point. If there really was a blowup over the 'Beautiful Girls'
lyric, why would it be in his studio version? And how much could the rights to a Sean Kingston song cost anyway? $20 and a box of twinkies?

True, but I just don't see the point of putting it in, I didn't notice it at all, but then again I don't pay much attention when Archturd comes on
my screen.

Seriously that "beautiful girls" song is the WORST. SONG. EVER. .. or one of them.. and Archutard deserves to DIE for even uttering those words
during one of the GREATEST songs of all time, Stand By Me.

There might have still been a blowup (like they agreed with it but still wanted that asshole out).

In this case it may not have cost beaucoups bucks, but it cost AI something extra they shouldn't have had to pay. Plus it was an additional hassle.
Speaking as someone who has had to deal with lawsuits as part of my job (not in the entertainment industry,) when you do everything to you can to conduct
business straight up, and some whack job effs it up, despite being instructed not to act in a way to cause legal problems, it is a pain in the ass. Deep
pockets or not, no corporate entity wants to divert productive effort over to legal hassles. If porkchop had been anyone else of legal age, my guess is he
would have been taken off of the show for something like this. But it wasn't his fault legally as he is a minor and, practically, it was sadly not in his
control. His father must be an idiot.

To further what Dagny said, it's a bit more complicated than that. Yes, if they had cleared the rights prior to the show, it may have cost them "$20 and a box of twinkies". After the show has aired live, though, with the song having not been cleared? It will cost WHATEVER THE FUCK THE RIGHTSHOLDERS CHOOSE TO ASK FOR. They can charge anything they like, and frankly, if it came down to a lawsuit, they would probably win. Intellectual property law is a nightmare, and it is serious, serious business. Moreover, it will make it harder for the Idol producers to legitimately convince other artists to sell the rights to their songs... I think that the Producers of American Idol, once this is over, should quietly sue the Archuleta's (pere et fils) for whatever damages this blatant bad act has cost them... Not really, because the publicity would be more harmful than anything they've already suffered, but in a perfect world... |

Drew B said it better than I did and quietly became a poster I revere. Nicely done, Drew, and succinctly correct.

How many other people cheered when reading this news? I know I did.
I wonder how this will affect Archtard in the contest. I wonder if the show really wants to deal with that monster if Archtard wins. |

Archtard is probably rocking back and forth in the fetal position right now, dreading the mondo beating he'll get when he goes home. Maybe Paula will adopt
him when he wins.

It has got to be bad, Seaguy. I wanted to gloat, but this is the entertainment industry where the rules about bad publicity go out of the window. Plus I
genuinely feel sorry for the boy. Right now it is about money and how much control TPTB actually have over the whole coronation. We all joke and snark about
the show being fixed, but I'm not sure it is once it comes down to vote counting. By all rights what Dadchuleta did should put Cook and Mercado in the F2.
America will not vote that way, in all likelihood. As a huge fan of DC based on talent and heart, I believe he deserves the win. But I can actually see Mercado
winning because of this. If the vote totals were truly within 2 million votes, how many Archie fans that jump ship are going to go to Cook and how many to
Mercado? How many Archie fans hate Cook as "the competition", the one who stands in Archie's way? A wild card, really.

I cheered because I find his father incredibly repulsive and also think he's the worst type of stage parent. I can't stand Archtard, but I do feel
sorry for him having to have to deal with this asshole.
