But now, they're starting to pop up everywhere. Personally, I cannot stand them. NO, it's not a big deal, but it is an annoying little deal. You have to pause, make eye contact, do your bullshit chit/chat, "Hi, how are you?", "Fine thanks", "can I help you find anything?", "no thanks, I'm all set", "great... have a nice day", "you too". Sure, you could ignore the person, but then you come across as a total asshole. I just want to simply walk into the store without being pestered. Am I wrong?

Fortunately, we don't have that bullshit here. Even at Wal Mart, the greeters mostly stand outside and smoke with the clerks who are on break. But if greeters ever started speaking to me, I'd shun them completely. Is there really any other option?

Do NOT ask me if I've ever tried a certain product before and what I thought about it. Maybe I enjoy it but YOU will not. Now I have to feel responsible for giving you a product review and recommendation and then maybe you buy the thing and go home and fucking hate it and then you remember me the next time I come back and you get all snide or bring it up as a topic of further conversation.
