I usually post on the BB board, but thought I'd pop in here and share some videos I took today of David Cook's final 3 homecoming. I just got home from
the ceremony / performance. It was really cool. I took videos with my digital camera, so they're not wonderful, but at least it's a little inside stuff
before you see it on the show.
As I stood in line to get into the high school stadium where the ceremony took place, I found out all sorts of stuff about him which was cool. There were people all around me that knew him, grew up with him, had kids who grew up with him, etc. Lots of people were telling stories so it was pretty cool. I videotaped most of it in little chunks on my digital camera and will be uploading them and adding them to this post as they're ready.
One cool thing was finding out what song David will be singing next week. He got a telegram from Simon while on stage - I forgot this coming week is the week the judges pick their songs. Simon has picked Roberta Flack's The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face. Not sure I get why, but we'll see how it turns out. That's the Judge's choice song for him.
He sang 3 or 4 songs. It was pretty cool and touching. We had�fantastic seats, but my camera makes it look like we're waaaay far away. We actually weren't - why do cameras do that? Oh - and we were facing the sun and I had had no idea if I was even taping the right spot because I couldn't make out anything in the viewfinder.
The videos are horrible quality because it's a camera and I was just holding it up in the air. It's all shakey - apologies for how sucky they are! Here is are the vids. They're in chrono order of the ceremony. I think the first one shows his parade ending & coming into the stadium. If you can make out the huge boom microphone in the video, that's where he is in the procession.
When he finally gets on stage, for the first couple videos he's in the back corner of the stage closest to me (back left as you're viewing the video). He's wearing a black blazer). But then they moved him front & center stage for the rest of the videos.
WARNING: The first three or four videos are pretty worthless - but the ones after that are of him talking and singing, so they're worth it. I just include the first couple ones because there there. It's mostly of him walking through the stadium to get to the stage.

(there's a spot where he says something about it's crazy how many people are here, and he points to the crowd on his side - he was pointing to right where I was sitting and the idol camera panned us - we just might make the show! lol).
