Agreeance on Guatemala, but not EI. As for which of China or Micronesia is better, it's a toughie for me, and one I can't really decide on until after
the finale/reunion finishes airing.

My only issue with Exile Island was that Aras won. If Terry, Cirie or Shane had won, it would have been my favorite season post ASS. Also EI had by far the best tribe ever in my opinion with Casaya. If Cirie wins Micronesia, it might make me like Micronesia around the same as China, it would be close for me. |

My favorite season ever (obviously) is Palau, so it's the best post-ASS season for me then. But China is easily #2 and Micronesia right behind it. Whoever
said China had great characters (and great moments) is right, and that Micronesia has had great gameplay (and some great characters too, just not as many) was
dead on. The only real flaw of Micronesia was the casting of a lot of the fans - Mary, Mikey B., Chet, Alexis, Erik... no thanks. Joel was a huge dick and a
strategic dumbass, but at least he was good to watch. Natalie's been great recently but was too neglected early on, Jason's an idiot but one of my
favorites through most of the season, Kathy was entertaining but not cut out for the game... so that leaves Tracy, the only real fan who actually made both
good television and good strategic moves. Survivor 17 should just have a cast of Tracy, Tracy, Tracy, Tracy, and 16 other Tracy's.

Micronesia has had great gameplayIt's easy to say the girls have provided great gameplay with the people they're up against. Seriously, are real "fans" of this show not using HII's and giving up individual immunity? China had better gameplay because most of the people were actually playing well. You didn't go into a Tribal Council knowing someone was about to make a big dumb mistake (except James). Micronesia doesn't have the greatest gameplay, it has the greatest mistakes, which lead to some great blindsides. That said, the blunders of Micronesia are refreshing and fun to watch. It just sucks that "fans" of the show are letting it happen. |

Definetely Micronesia. Although China had some great episodes and a great cast the post merge this season has been phenomenal. Although before the merge was
pretty lame it has certainly got a lot better since then and my favourite still has a chance of winning this season.

Oh, it's not even a question; China all the way. It's the only post-ASS season without a single dud episode. Micronesia's pre-merge was incredibly
inconsistent; I still say the fans are one of the most boring tribes ever. That said, it has one of the top three post-merges of all time and these last few
episodes have really pushed it over the top. Although it's actually fourth on my post-ASS ranking; Panama and Palau top it too for me.
Micronesia definitely has a TAR12 vibe--ok start but nothing special, and then suddenly it kicks in with one episode towards the end of the season [the Kynt/Vyxsin NEL and Eliza's boot] and after that it's all killer, no filler. Those last few episodes of TAR12 were enough to really boost it in my ranking and the same goes for Micronesia. And I'm a big "stick to 16 contestants" guy but since half the cast is made up of returning players, I didn't mind the expanded cast this season. Some people definitely got under-edited for sure, but it would feel kind of awkward to have a returning players season that was just a normal cast size. |

I still say the fans are one of the most boring tribes ever I thought original Airai had a fascinating - the fact they got broken up and lost all their interesting players in the space of 3 episodes was the quickest decimation of compelling characters in Survivor history. Malakal, on the other hand, were easily one of the Bottom 5 tribes ever - I'd have much rather watched anything on Airai than Jonathan yelling at Cirie or Ozzy and Amanda making googly eyes (they didn't even show the only interesting moments - Yau fucking up and ruining the alliance/season). China's endgame was pretty dull as soon as James left, but there were enough elements like Peigh-Gee's underdog status and Denise's doubts to
keep me interest. This season has more blindsides but the actual storyline is pretty dull - it's been more like watching 'America's Stupidest Home
Videos' than a strategy game. My only preference in the finale is for Amanda to lose and that's more because I hated her in China and hated Ozzy even
more.
Micronesia definitely has a TAR12 vibe--ok start but nothing special, and then suddenly it kicks in with one episode towards the end of the season [the Kynt/Vyxsin NEL and Eliza's boot] and after that it's all killer, no filler I'm shocked to disagree with so much in a beatles post, TAR12 was the first season since TAR5 that had no dud episodes...until the terrible NEL where TK/Rachel survived, giving three awful episodes in a row. I don't think any other season failed so badly right near the end (TAR1 had a great F4 elim, TAR2 had the great finale, TAR7 had better tasks near the end etc)

A Dying Clown wrote:I totally agree. Very well said. Sure, the "blindsides" have been entertaining, but they only occurred because people have been totally moronic this season. That's less satisfying to me. I'd rather have a strong strategic season than one where people are complete idiots post-merge (actually pre-merge strategy wasn't that much better) and 3-4 people who actually have some strategic sense exploit their stupidity. To me, people are like OMG 4 blindsides in a row!!!1! best season ever!, but does that really make it a great season? Sorry, I can't just block from my memory the bad editing, disappointing characters and boots, lackluster cast (fans), bland recycled location and challenges/rewards, and frustratingly stupid strategy (which thankfully provided some entertaining "blindsides" to counterbalance it) and love the season just because we got like 5 great tribal councils toward the end. I absolutely think China was the better season. It was much more well-rounded and consistent, had great characters almost without exception, had an awesomely unique and cool location, great challenges, and good strategy. I support the general consensus of - Palau/Guatemala/Exile >>>>>> China/Micronesia >>>>>>>>>>> Cook/Fiji. But with Fiji and Micronesia very close.I agree again except I'd put include Vanuatu in the group with Palau/Guatemala/Exile Island. |

Palau can be, it has a lot of firsts, but Guatemala? hmmm, maybe because of Stepheme

the only reason id consider guatemala good was bc i remember watching it and thinking, wow! this season is really unpredictable. I never knew who was gonna
leave and i was spoiler free that season.

For me, Guatemala's really quite good and criminally underrated just for, well, everything about it. It had the first inclusion of the HII in a way that it
wasn't overpowered, had a unique twist with Steph/BJ coming back, had us getting to see Steph completely ruin her Palau image, and the duds were voted out
very early in the season. It's sort of like how you can find a video game that, even though it doesn't offer a lot of unique things about it,
everything it has is really quite good with very little bad about it. The whole BJ/Jamie thing was awesome too, and there's very little in the way of
episodes that could be classified as boring (the only exception I can think of is Amy's boot). I've always had a real soft spot for it (and Vanuatu
since I got it on dvd) and if I go from watching Guatemala to watching Exile Island afterwards, I always feel let down. However, I don't think any season
has ever left me with such an all around bad taste like Fiji did. I barely liked much of that season while I was watching it.

Micronesia has definitely set a new standard. It outclasses Vanuatu's women alliance. Its quitters are cooler than Palau's quitters. It's
blindsides are better than Guatemala's. Exile Island and the HII are all better in Micronesia than Panama, and also has Cirieownage in it. It is like a
sequel to Cook Islands. The ending is way more ambiguous compared to Fiji's. And Amanda is x100 more awesome in Micronesia than she ever was in China.
It's the closet equivalent and counterpart to the best pre-ASS season Pearl Islands in my eyes and is basically what ASS could've been
