Clive Davis says he was a player in this era too, signing Janis Joplin, Santana and making Laura Nyro a star, he takes all the credit.

Okay well as my 1000th post, I'm happy to say that I can use it by discrediting Clive on one of my fav singers Janis Joplin.

Clive didn't do fuck all when it comes to Janis. Janis became famous at the Monterey Pop Festival of 1967. Albert Grossman, manager of Bob Dylan was at the festival, Albert Grossman met Janis at the festival and then immediately became Janis' manager. Clive just happened to be the head of the Columbia records at the time where Janis was signed. Clive hadn't discovered Janis at all. Janis was already a star before her first album even came out because of the amazing performance she gave at the Monterey Pop Festival which was televised nationally. Janis was known way before the old fucker ever signed her and Big Brother to the label. Big Brothers' first album wasn't released till over a year later with Columbia.
In short, the fat old fart didn't discover Janis at all. Just merely bounced at the opportunity to sign her after she was already famous. Taking credit for Janis is horseshit.

On to Yelly. I'm sure she jumped for joy when she heard the fat old fart got dumped, as she should have. Clive royally fucked up Melissa Manchester's career and I'm sure he would have done the same to Kelly's had he had his way. Like any employee-employer relationship, the boss can't simply shit all over an employee and give new rules and restrictions to follow, and expect the employee not to be pissed off. Clive is a shithead and his demotion only took too long.

Everyone knew something was up when he picked All By Myself for Jasmalien. I hated Jasmalien but even I thought something was very fishy there. The same goes for McTits' I Believe I Can Fly. He doesn't pick songs for the contestants that necessarily benefit them, he merely picked songs from the artists that he signed, whether they worked for the contestant or not.
