Jason at least tried stuff like "Michelle" which was my favourite performance from him. When Brooke was without an instrument we got shit like her forgetting the words and restarting or "Here Comes the Sun." Bo had a point, however I don't if it was necessary for him to say that to the contestants that some of them hid behind their instruments. That said I don't think he's a piece of shit, he's seems like a very cool, down to earth dude.

I was hella bummed to see Jason go personally but I didn't hysterically jump to the conclusion that Bo was calling him out as I don't think he hid behind his instruments anyways. From what I remember, he sat on a stool and delivered Hallelujah beautifully without any accompaniment.

So Bo gave a little critique; he's been there and done that so why not? And he's actually watched the show which is more than most of the guests can say. Bo and that guitar (or one of the other eight he had with him) rock in person! He reminds me of the days when I listened to Southern Rock drinking 50 cent beers from a plastic cup in a bar where your feet stick to the floor and you come home when the paper boy is delivering the morning paper. I took Bo's comments to mean that the instruments worked for some and not for others.. it was a 50/50 split and that sometimes the contestant was playing behind the instrument and it didn't work but they still got the benefit of the doubt just for playing it. Brooke is a perfect example of that IMO... I think sometimes people read WAY more into these comments than is really there, just for the purpose of being assholes. fcuk I'm looking at you I wish Bo had said it sucked that they were able to play instruments in this season because when he asked in Season 4 he was told NO... that's what I wish he had said because that's the truth.

IMO Nashville Star is a much better indicator of what kind of artist these contestants want to be.they sing covers too but they are also required to bring original material to the table......

The Bad: The song was instantly forgettable. 5 minutes later, I just knew the word "witness" was in it. The singing. Really monotonous and repetitive, Bo. Try to change it up. The guitar playing. When not on the voxbox, just lame. The hair. Just shit. So it was nowhere near as bad as I was expecting. Good jorb, Bo.

Perhaps with some tweaking (or a co-writer), or just something to come with more song writing experience, he could become a decent song writer and drop his singin' gig. I'm hopeful.
