The judges can actually comment on a performance by performance basis and don't have to give bullshit comments and only pimp some fucking TCO. Anyone can win this show because there isn't a TCO. Sure there are people who can't win (black people and females unless they're up against a heinously mediocre male from the Atlantic provinces) but they don't pick out 1 or 2 people and deliberately pimp them only. If you deliver a good performance you get credit for it.

He's starting a three month tour of Canada and Europe beginning next week I believe (his first in more than 15 years) and has a new CD coming out at some point too so it would coincide nicely with CI. I know he would probably never appear personally on a show like CI but they could still have a week to pay tribute to his music and honor him as a Canadian legend. Speaking of CDs I would urge anyone to check out Neptune City by Nicole Atkins. Best singer/songwriter to come around in quite a while imho.

Like Zack loved Nancy but he wouldn't only praise Nancy, anyone who gave a good performance by Zack's standards would get praise too. If Archuleta was on CI he might get praise for his vocals but he wouldn't be getting these comments every week about how he's the best or the one to beat or the bomb. He would have been called out long before now for doing the same thing every week and boring the judges. Plus other people besides him would get comments just as good as he got. Syesha and Jason wouldn't get thrown under a bus for no reason. Jet I will check that CD out just because of it's name.

We haven't had a tribute to a singular Canadian icon since CI2's Gordon Lightfoot night, or a Canadian band since CI3's Barenaked Ladies night. And even if we were to have a LC night, we'd be treated to several variations of "Hallelujah"

I don't like his singing but for some reason a lot of people think he's this angelic, amazing singer and the judges couldn't not put him through. Although they didn't put that bitch Jessica Sheppard through and they got a lot of backlash for that but she's not the type of singer they give a damn about, neither is Porkchop.

It's too bad more contestants don't explore other songs from the LC songbook on CI. I suppose it takes a special kind of singer to connect with the deeper meanings of his songs (someone like Jenny Gear for instance). Also many of his songs would hardly be considered 'mainstream' today. Hallelujah is associated more with Jeff Buckley or Rufus Wainright among most young people.
